The themes I made is based on N97 because as you said Own Skin didn't implement Satio for now.
Anyway all the N97 themes I tried even from Zedge work nicely on Satio.
About integrating Satio in SE Theme Creator ''it's a possibility'' a SE technician said in SE Developer website, saying the next SE TC will be ready in 3 to 5 weeks. I don't think it will be difficult to do, if they use a solution like Own Skin but with some more customizable elements, specially the different homescreens backgrounds and their icon black bar transparency...
Anyway here is a list of what they should add/fix in next FWs:
-Less jpeg compression (2mb for a 12mp camera is not acceptable)
-Theme effects
-Standby themes fix (no more empty icons)
-MUCH louder sound output
-Give the choice to take away the music widget or replace it by another app
-Symbian version of SE Tracker or at least a working java one (nokia one doesn't have live calories counter)
+1

@jmcomms
Would Profimail not work on the Satio (is it available in play now)? Seems pretty good email app to me I used it in prefernece to Nokia email client (before messaging was available) on N97 (gak spit) and it's heaps better than the resident app - not hard cos that's a pile of do-do but you get my drift. |

@ 10123 - well Nokia use Symbian S60 for pretty much every smartphone they have, and currently hold 40% of the total market which is by far much more than any other OS / interface. So its far from a dying platform. Dont think just because you may read people on forums such as this banging on about it going to happen does not mean they're right.
It's a stone cold fact that Nokia are now positioning Maemo (their new linux-based OS) as their high-end smartphone offering, initially on the N900, which takes over the top of the range from the N97. There will be more Maemo phones - and as careful as they're being not to announce it, it's quite clear that Nokia aim to take on the new smartphone market (iPhone, Android etc) with Maemo, while Symbian becomes the next level down in their lineup, gradually replacing S40.
Symbian may very well last a good while longer at the low-end as an entry/mid-tier OS, but what we now call smartphones won't be running it, and what development it will attract is pretty doubtful. Developers like to code for people that want to make use of mobile apps, and aren't afraid to download or even pay for them, and that won't necessarily be Symbian users in the future.

Having recently read a preview on the Nokia N900 i would love one. They actually said the in built web browser was the best they had ever seen.

Agreed, Maemo looks pretty good - it's a next gen OS for this next gen market, and should do well when it's spread around a few more devices. I think Nokia are wise to keep dibs on their own platform like this, while the likes of SE are stuck squabbling with everyone else over the next build of Android, Symbian, or Winmo.

I doubt Symbian is going out that easily, if it does then booowhooo, but i doubt it, wait until the SF OS and Maemo is staying in high-end,but im sure we'll have S60 flagships like the N97, its going to be like the S60 and S80 days. Maybe im wrong, but it looks like its going that way.

Actually I think you mean flagships unlike the N97. As the owner of one of these alledged phones (3 weeks in repair shop and counting and check all Nokia discussions and forums for litany of faults with this) I hope we never see a phone as bad again, unfortunately for SF Nokia's incompetence with this device (RAM, C:, flaky firmware etc. ) have badly damaged the reputation of S60 V5 (SF^1) and hence SF^2 the first Symbian Foundation release. We're told to hang on until SF^3 to see some good stuff and SF^4 will blow us away but these are for devices in 2011 !!! So in the meantime let's hope that at lest the hardware improves to make up for the very ugly UI (Kudos SE and Sammie for this - shame on you Nokia). If any more Tukey's get released it is going to tarnish the whole platform. With new Android devices and shells and Maemo now Nokia's prestige OS and things do look tough for Symbian. Will have solid future as feature and app rich OS for mid range (cheap) devices but is going to be a follower not a leader. |

The thing about S60/S80 is that as they were both based on the same OS, the development of one contributed to the other and vice versa, so Nokia were able to maintain them both pretty well. With Maemo it's different - it shares nothing with Symbian, and it's a 100% in-house Nokia product, so they're completely free to throw all their resources at it and do what they like (in fact that's exactly what they have to do if they want Maemo to survive and develop at all).
SF may well come up with some interesting stuff, but while SE are in part reliant on that (and the fortunes of Android and Windows Mobile), it's now less important to Nokia.

What i meant was in terms of specs and having a device that will be seen as Nokia's flagship Symbian. As a device i find the N97 is very nice, most "normal" or "average users" i know who own one love it,thats why its been a success in sales,or thats atleast what i read on some blogs/sites and at a local Vodashop. It seems for us "tech geeks" it and S60v5 sucks. I dont know though just dont think Symbian will just die.

Fair enough. As for SE, your points make absolute sense, it looks like SE are just prepared to rely-on and not get creative when it comes to an OS, but just simply build a gimmicky UI.

The problem is i will be on an 18month contract, and if i watied a bit for the X10 i would know android is the future with tons of apps avaible, while going for the satio will present little overpriced apps. |

Totaly agree 10123. Il be upgrading a 24month contract next year, and with Android devices such as Droid,Tattoo, Hero and upcoming models being so well priced with so much support and apps i to feel a bit uneasy with Symbian, the whole going from S60v5 to Symbian^2 without updating the S60v5 devices is worrying im prepared to leave Symbian anyway, but dont want to see it die lol.
