I love sony phones but for f*ck's sake, have some criticism.
We don't lack constructive criticism of either Z or Honami in this thread. Yes, sometimes speculations can add up some hype but in the end, as we approach final product, most of us in this thread are satisfied with Honami and reasonably optimistic about it's performance. |

I think when someone like Sonysta who has bashed Xperia cameras to no end in the past is claiming i1 camera quality is very high and possibly better than Lumia 1020, there is no point in thinking suddenly something will screw up
Nobody here mentioned i1 will beat 808. As Shotokan81 mentioned, i1 could beat 1020 not because it has better hardware but because there is something seriously wrong with the Lumia 1020 camera software. So while we may be sony fanboys, I don't think we are delusional |

I believe admad meant camera lens will steal some of the Honami's "spotlight" if introduced around same date.
I can already hear evil mouth say: "Ha, they couldn't make proper camera so had to go with pointless, Xenon-less camera lens."
IMO, Sony's marketing dept. should give some time, keeping hype around Honami before presenting lens
cameras....
ps. I really hope Sony will show bunch of great shots at Homani's press event....
Cheers,
Miki

I don't think they would show honami samples. Just like last year, honami may receive at the max 2 mins of coverage as Hirai san would have to introduce a host of products and not just the honami. |

So there won't be Honami dedicated event, more like Sony general event presenting all their goodies?

I think it is better this way, samsung will have much less to show and note 3 launch will sink under a sea of sony products

Guys see what Pocketnow wrote about Z Ultra screen. I bet they will write same for honami
http://pocketnow.com/2013/08/14/xperia-z-ultra-review
Beside displays like the HTC One’s S-LCD3 panel or the Samsung Galaxy S 4′s Super AMOLED screen, the Triluminos panel on the Z Ultra simply isn’t in the same league. Colors are quite vibrant, thanks to the Mobile Bravia Engine 2.
However, blacks are very milky, and although viewing angles are better than we recall from other Xperia devices in the past, they’re still not on par with other current display technologies.
For all intents and purposes, most will never have an issue with the display on the Xperia Z Ultra. But if you’re a pixel junkie, you will be quick to notice the shortcomings of the Z Ultra’s picture quality.

It's not about the megapixels, more important will be image quality and optical zoom.
In both categories the addon lenses will logically perform much better than the Honami itself.
So automatically Sony admits their sensor in Honami is shitty so they provide better one in add-on lens? How does that sound? I prefer phone that has good sensor from start, no bulky accessories needed. And I'll say it again, it might have sense if there would be xenon flash on these lenses, there isn't. So the only advantage of G lens is optical zoom, that can be obtained with a much smaller accessory, like this:
I'm sorry but how do you even take yourself seriously?
There is not enough physical space in a phone to put in a sensor with quality similar to the ones in the add-on lenses. Add to that that the optical quality is also much higher and you simply get much better pictures. |

We've all seen the Xperiablog screen face off between ZU, S4 and HTC One, and ZU clearly beat them in every single aspect (screen related).
Pocketnow crew are a bunch of lazy, amateur, Sony hating dumb asses especially if they really expect for us not believe our own eyes!
