Hello everyone I've finally decided to register in this forums after many years of lurking since the xperia S days and I'm a Sony fan since the SE era since my first phone is a T610.
Regarding Sony's redesign of their next flagship, I think they should go ahead with their Glass concept except that they should use metal or any other premium material. The bezel less bottom would be an acceptable design to many in my opinion..
Also what could be the new naming convention? I think they should use Greek letters or perhaps Japanese?

If that Y concept is true, then we can guess, their designers are not on holiday... Sony fired all of them 😂😂😂 |

Some say we will see XZ Premium successor at IFA 2018 because of 18 months time frame between Premium models. I don't agree.
I think there should be only one true flagship, no need for 5,2" and 5,5" models. It doesn't matterhow it will ba named, Premium, Pro or Zeta, butit should be shown at MWC.
We don't know new design and how small/big bezels will be, but rumours say bezels are slimmer, so 5,5" flagship should be ok for many. |

So you're saying it's too early for a new Premium phone? I can't see Sony Mobile bypassing MWC, not showing a device.

They should save Premium for IFA.
And use next sensor. |

No, I'm saying exactly the opposite. As I said, imho next flagship should be announced at MWC. It's time for one true flagship once a year at the same show (MWC). For few years we had two flagship every year with minor changes, last year at IFA, this year at MWC... It's confusing.
Showing phone at IFA has disadvantages: it is half year behind in term of spec (at least processor) and price of competitors has dropped significantly.
@LumberjackX:
I don't know if new sensor is enough reason to delay announcement till IFA, but what we can? We don't know what Sony Mobile plans are, we can only guess and speculate.

MWC should have XA1 and Ultra replacements which should carry a partial new design language in a plastic body. The XA1 Plus hints at the lower end devices coming with fingerprint scanners which is good but I think they should move to SD6XX rather than MediaTek just because in the past phones like the Xperia X and X Compact have very close performance compared to the SD8XX flagships.
A good way to introduce the new design would be a 6 inch device, not a premium but something with a similar footprint just to get some tongues wagging and keep the momentum going for IFA. Not sure about OLED screens yet because comparing the LG V30 to XZ1 live, the Sony screen looks much better and I don't really see the supposed battery life advantage. |

I'm not sure, I heard some web told that LG OLED(V30) still issue like LG G Flex,G Flex2 |

Some websites say there was not much improvement over the screen used for G Flex 2.
Low brightness and contrast is not unmeasurable like on screens made by Samsung.
In my opinion if Sony saves the Premium for september is better.
JDI would have more time to develop the oled.
New camera.
Maybe in-screen FPS.

DXO has change the protocol.
So feature of dual cam can be tested.
XZP got 83 for new protocol. I believe it would be 87 if there was no change.
Because the score of Galaxy S6 was 86, now is 82.
It seems like X Perf is still the best Sony in their opinion.

I always read their reviews.
Now they give score for Zoom and Bokeh.
I think they should have another ranking for second cam.
Unfair to compare Bokeh if one phone has 26mm lenses and another a second cam with 53mm.
Also optical zoom against digital.
Anyway, iphone 7 and s6 now have lower score than before.
S6 went from 86 to 82.
But Pixel was 89, now 90.
Its score of autofocus was 92 or 93, now they gave 98.
U11 had 95 for AF, now 90.
And Pixel now has higher score of video stabilization. I have seen many samples, and Pixel's EIS is not good.
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Anyway, they complain about video stabilization, artifacts and noise in some situations.

DxO have no opinions. They're extremely unreliable because they rely on blind algorythm (which is easy to trick) not the actual picture quality. Their job is to commercialise DxO Analyzer and what we can see is nothing but a synthetic score from that tool. No human eyes are actually lokking at pictures. There's no camera in any Xperia that takes better pictures than the S6. |

Thats no surprise at all guys...
look how much money Apple has for R&D !! Than look at google and the Pixl. Both didnt have a lot of experince in camera department, but they have money for R&D
Sony is lagging behind in camera and we all know that. I think sony makes good photos, but the company with the big money will prevail. Every review points it, not only dxo..
If you want to argue about every review that makes Sony stays behind in the camera competition, than ok, its your problem.
Its kinda hard for beeing a Sony fanboy these days...
I hope they fire the design guy and start putting money on things they are lagging behind.
