I can force the flash off if thats what you mean, but then it cant seem to focus too Also the macro shots are quite blurry compared to the C702. It's not a big deal or something, just strikes me as strange. Having both devices side by side its so much easier to take very close macro shots with the C702 than the C902. The C702 seems faster/easier to focus and the pictures are much sharper. Just took another macro of those little stickers you get on laptops, about 1x1cm in size.

I'm not here to diss the C902, just trying to figure out what is going on. On the example above (which I jsut took 5 mins ago) both phones focus fine and I see a green rectangle, my hand is steady enough, I will even use a tripod later with some bluetack to be sure

Edit: Just took the same picture as above with the C902 on a tripod + timer, still blurry results. I did not touch it and we had no mini earth quake.

Closeups do look very blurry on the c902, you wont be able to change that, macro shots from around 15cm distance look good, but real closeups look very poor. I at first assumed blurry close up shots were the norm for didgital cameras, but your pics prove otherwise

??? oh my, one more time). THAT C902 PICTURE IS NOT SHOT WITH STEADY HANDS (or whatever), its out of focus,(quite easy to see).

with a bit photo skills, you can improve the quality quite much.......
this IS proper Focus, (no shaky hands, etc ).....

I'm sure if the C902 auto focus thingy can be modified for macro shots it will out do the C702.

Anyone else with a C902 and a laptop with the tiny 1x1cm stickers wanna have a go?

@Plankgatan
My hands are steady and fine, I even tried taking the shot with a little tripod. The crux here is lighting. Your example is taken with a lot of light/direct sunlight.

The pictures look out of focus because they are, but the C902 is satisfied it's in focus hence its little beep when I take the shot.

looks like i was wrong, the c902 closeups are even worse than expected, they are terrible, the worse i have ever seen from a camera what is the point in auto focus when the shots turned out like this???

Now here is the same stickers but this time taken further away, and now the shots look far better.

It just appears the c902 can't focus on close macros in low light, photo-skills have nothing to do with it, it's a phone cam you can't do much more than point & shoot.

I am not denying the C902 has good macro, it has very good macro, but close up shots (under 10cm in distance) look extremely poor, try it for you self and take a picture of the windows stickers on your laptop/pc from the same distance i have, then you will realise how poor the closeups really are on the c902.

Yes like number1 said, it is the auto focus thing in the "driver". I just took some pics of my plants in the window sill, and those are like yours, just fine. It is when there's not much light the auto focus has some problems, maybe in a new firmware it will be fixed.

Right now the firmware/driver tells the phone it has focus when it has not. It's pretty simple.

True True, but Plank seems to think otheriwse, although im quite sure the C905 can handle closeups better, not because of more megapixels but because because its a bigger phone with a better sesnor

Extreme closeups arenīt easy to take with any phone. I think the closest range for macro is around 10 cm or so. I have only had digicams that can take such closeup pics.

Itīs also impossible for me to get a lock and green square any closer than around 10 cm from the sticker.

As GSM Arena writes in their review "The dedicated macro mode in C902 allows you to take images from as close as 8 cm, just like with the K850 camera" I think thats more close to the truth

Im not talking about indoors, as i KEEP saying closeups less than 10cm away are terrible!!!! No one can deny that, and as posted above, the closest you can take a decent macro shot is 8cm away, from a mobile phone. So i can only guess this is a fault with mobile phone cameras in general, i suppose i expect a phone with a 5mp camera to be the same as a normal camera with 5mp and this is obviously not the case.

Anyway here are some shots from around my back garden
