@ Jojo, I don't doubt his experience pal, but I will doubt a 320 km/h claim for a road-going R1. If he was talking in general about the fastest road-going bikes out there ie. modified, then yes, I would agree with him.

The Ducati 1098 will struggle to top 300km/h too; it's a very powerful V-twin bike, no question, but it's at an instant disadvantage for top-end speed as it's a V-twin. This is because V-twins cannot rev as high as inline 4 cylinder engines of the same capacity, due to their bigger, heavier pistons. Where V-twins are very strong, as a result of their engine configuration, is their awesome mid-range power and roll-on-throttle performance etc. The World Superbike 1098 will reach that speed though.

@ Jojo,
The only anniversary-edition R1, as far as I know, was released in America in 2006 ( I think) to commemorate Yamaha's 50 years of racing. It was in the old traditional Kenny Roberts-era colours of yellow, white and black. I remember even Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards sporting the retro colour scheme on their Yamaha moto GP bikes during the US round of Moto GP, at the famous Laguna Seca race track in 2006, to commemorate the event.

EDIT: Ah, there it is! (pic in your post)
Yip, that's the one.

@ Jojo,
Yes, that's true for Honda and Kawasaki, but a little more complicated for Yamaha and Suzuki. Suzuki sports bikes are traditionally blue and white, but their off-road bikes are traditionally yellow. Yamaha uses blue for their off-road bikes (used to be white and magenta in most of the '90's!) and usually their traditional red, white and black for the sports bikes, or just blue. They moved away from the Roberts era yellow, white and black many years ago, although it's still pretty much associated with Yamaha.

Sa muling pagkikita, mate.

@ Jojo,
Ducati, like other Italian performances marques ie Ferrari et al, are traditionally red. And not surprising, as the colour reflects passion, something the Italians epitomise.
But yeah, Honda also use red.
The Ducati Monster is also usually red, but yellow is often an alternative, less popular colour scheme offered in the Ducati range of bikes over the years.

Sweet dreams...are made of this. Oh dang, now that Eurythmics song is going to be stuck in my head again...

Eish, the cricket in Cape Town's painfully slow at the moment... it's akin to watching paint dry...
