see quoting isn't so bad now is it brown?
Just as long as you dont go and quote things that say Muslims are bad, Sikhs are better than Christians and what not then everything is fine.
@Vanquish, read a few posts above, Masseur has stated his views on this thread.

well as I said, if anything at all, people should use religion to better themselves and not simply have something to control themselves.

| They should but it seems some muslims are using it as an excuse to get into heven and to cause chaos. |

CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE: "THE BIG BANG"
The creation of the universe is explained by astrophysicists in a widely accepted phenomenon, popularly known as the ‘Big Bang’. It is supported by observational and experimental data gathered by astronomers and astrophysicists for decades. According to the ‘Big Bang’, the whole universe was initially one big mass (Primary Nebula). Then there was a ‘Big Bang’ (Secondary Separation) which resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon, etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the probability of it occurring by ‘chance’ is zero.
The Quran contains the following verse, regarding the origin of the universe: "Do not the Unbelievers see That the heavens and the earth Were joined together as one Unit of Creation, before We clove them asunder?" [Quran 21:30]
The striking congruence between the Quranic verse and the ‘Big Bang’ is inescapable! How could a book, which first appeared in the deserts of Arabia 1400 years ago, contain this profound scientific truth?

Yes but that quote can be perceived in many ways, just like the Quran is followed by many Muslims in different ways.

we learnt about the big bang in school last year...aparently its not true or something, because there wasnt enough energy to create the protein molecule which was said to start it off...

Well what I know about the fault in the theory in the big bang is that scientists argue that matter cant be created from nothing. (so only a god could do that I suppose, but I’m still a non believer )

Please do not be rude. Peter, or anyone else for that matter, is perfectly entitled to post quotations from any holy book he likes. This a thread on religion, if you aren't interested in Peter's quotes then don't read them. I find myself reading some and not others, one is under no obligation to read any post.

Taoism makes no distinction between people based upon sexual preference.

Well then if god did create the universe it brings us back to the question of who created god (other than man)

According to the laws of physics as we currently understand them energy cannot be created or destroyed. This in no way invalidates the Big Bang theory as the Big Bang is merely an expansion of exisitng energy.
Where the Big Bang becomes interesting from a religious point of view is when we contemplate what came before the Big Bang or what caused the Big Bang.
Various religions may offer explanations involving a creator god to explain the Big Bang. Current scientific thought would seem to centre on two views as far as I can discern. The first being that we simply do not know what came before the Big Bang. The other being the Big Bang was the result of a Big Crunch. That is that the Big Bang was the culmination of a previous universe having contracted and collapsed in upon itself. It is speculated that such a cycle of expansion and contraction may have been taking place forever and will continue forever.
Two interesting questions arise out of this theory. The first being what started the process in the first place and the second being where the energy, which makes up the universe itself, originated from. It isn't necessarily an unscientific theory to postulate that the answer to both is nothing. The cycle and the energy may simply have always existed without the need of an instigatory force.

Quoting verses from my religious scripture is classed as religious
Explanation and description is in the verse itself if you can be bothered to read it!
Vanquish, what seems to be your problem? Is it the fact that this topic is doing so well without any of your religious input? I think it is!
If you have nothing religious to say, please go away.
The Glorious Quran, Chapter 11 Verses 121-123 states:
Say to those who do not believe: "Do what ever ye can: We shall do our part;
"And wait ye! We too shall wait."
To Allah do belong the unseen secrets of the heavens and the earth, and to Him goeth back every affair for decision: then worship Him, and put thy trust in Him: and thy Lord is not unmindful of aught that ye do.
