yes tony, i understand about the limited warranty. My phone is under warranty in Singapore. So if i upgrade in Malaysia I have to pay RM25. But thank you very much for helping me enquire about my warranty voiding if i upgraded in SE Malaysia.

The problem is I can't connect GPRS in Malaysia coz apparently my software is not Malaysian. I have an extra DNS Server to type in and in Malaysia apparently there's no DNS server field. I'm rather confused about this and very disappointed. Sigh! So I don't know whether if i upgrade my sw in singapore, i think i will still have this problem... anyway thank you for reply so fast and i'll wait for ur reply this coming monday =) cheers!

amlim-> This morning I was waiting for your reply and SE Singapore also waiting for me to give them your work sheet no. to investigate your case.

I also had spoken to SE Singapore sw Engineer and SESC Technical Manager in regards to your case, this is what they reply to me. But still
they will not neglect your complain and they are ready to investigate
when they have your work sheet order.

SESC Technical Manager: He did recall there is someone who send in a R310s requesting to reinstate the Asian language to the phone. According to what he told me the R310s that you send in is a European version. It cannot accept Asian Languages. That is the reason when his staff did try to download for you the Asian Language sw and it was rejected by your phone. From what I knew this Technical Manager, he is an experience guy in SE phones, and also he is a nice man, he will go all way to help his clients to solve problems. Since he had mentioned it in this manner, another alternative that I can think off is something may be wrong on the info on your phone. Okay, don't be dishearten by his remarks, as I have said SE Singapore is also trying to help you out to solve for you this mystery problem of yours.

SE Singapore: The sw Engineer explained to me when SE Sweden launched this R310s, they are catered for two markets. One is for the Europe side and one is for the Asian side. That is why you can know there is an European version and an Asian version. The European version could not accept Asian languages. Only the Asian version can.
And in Singapore, they even come with 2 models R310s and R310sc. The "s" and "sc" is similar to T68 m and T68mc. The "s'" can accept Chinese language and "sc" is able to write and send.

The next thing they intend to do is, perhaps you have to send in your phone to the SC one more time and they will check the imei no. on the phone. This number will able to tell this phone whether is it an European version or Asian version.

As SE Singapore told me, if this is genuinely an Asian version model and the SC had unintentionally erased your Chinese language, and unable to retreive back, they will work out something for you. Perhaps they will work out with you with some special arrangement.

For formality sake, could you let me know some info?

1. Where did you buy the phone from? A dealer or vendor like Singtel, M1 or Starhub?

2. If you buy from an outside dealers, are you awared some of the phones they might import themselves and it could be an European version that you bought it?

Regards,

TonyG-Phone was bought from outside dealer by original owner. I bought the phone second hand. I guess the phone may be a European set based on the the 7th and 8th digit number in the IMEI which is "61".

The warranty card is by Mobile Technology Asia who runs the SESC so it is a local set.

The labeling on the packaging of the R310s shows clearly "supports asian languages". I am sure that it used to have Asian language support.

Perhaps you can let SE Singapore and SESC know the above and see what they say. I can show them the packaging if they want.

If you need the full IMEI No, can you SMS me at 9645 3628? I'll SMS back to you. Thanks.

amlim-> Foremost important it is not the packaging, the dealer might
packed this phone into a Asian language box. It is the imei no. that can indicate whether it is for European or Asia market. I believe also this must be a local set as they carried MTA warranty card. By the way, when you bought this phone, did you personally check the set it is with Asian language? Okay, once and for all, you will also wish to know is this a European set or not? Why don't you write to me in my private message column, And I will forward to SE Singapore to check whether this is an European version phone to get a 2nd opinion. If this is an European version than and I am sorry nothing I could help you. As SE told me all European version cannot accept Asian language. If it is an Asian version and due to MTA fault that erased your sw, than SE will be arranging something with you to make you happy.

cwchee-> Yeah, SE will be launching the budget phone T 300 soon.
But though it may not be able to "pao kah liao" because it is a budget phone, but it will at least "pao jit puah" (only can pao half) . You can wait for it.
