Did you guys even read the thread Riyal created on XDA?

There is no such thing as a BAD or inferior panel. All Xperia Z use the same panel - Sharp 5 inch 1080p.

The difference in screens is due to variation in calibration. So have patience, it will be fixed in firmware update or someone at XDA will find a solution soon.

According to some screenshots I have seen, Sony's calibration software is going to be included in XZL. Thus, for those who have XZ, does XZ have any sort of screen calibration software?

nice comparison btw htc one vs Z ,
Performance and camera quality aside, both smartphones are premium devices with a desirable design and a similar weight and feel. They're evenly matched in connectivity terms, and each offers a stunning displays - the HTC's is sharper, while the Sony offers better colours and more screen estate. The Sony has less storage, but you can add a microSDXC card. The HTC One and Xperia Z even cost about the same amount.

Personally I dont care it that much. But it's wierd that the screen performance of Japanese devices and the internation variant is different. Hope the future FW update could solve the issue.

@King

I think the good screen comes from japan. IDK why people are complaining about the viewing angles. If its SO IMPORTANT for them why people put privacy screen protector on their phones? Some samsung users even put privacy screen protectors lol. I think bad viewing angles arguement are stupid because the next person to u can see what you're doing with your phone if it has good viewing angles. People who own SONY phones doesn't need to buy privacy screen protectors anymore because SONY has built in privacy in their screen

I'm still shocked at how Sony have botched the screen, doesn't seem like a FW update can fix this despite what our resident Sony lover has said, looking at many pics of Z suggests Sony used the cheapest display/display components that they could find.

Other OEMs have these kind of customers as well, even more than what Sony has(because of the sheer size of their customer base, which leads to bragging about sales numbers). Every company and many products have blind fanboys. Even Samsung's Exynos SOCs and Qualcomm's SOCs have fanboys. I find myself surprised that even a processor can evoke such strong emotions from people. It's a little stupid to claim that only a single company has these kind of customers. Ironically, this comes from someone who was bragging about how Samsung was the first manufacturer to enable 1080p flash video playback. I come here to get some info and I get to read these kind of junk. What do you want everyone here to do? Dance to your tunes and agree with all the negative stuff you post? You do have some valid points at times. If you have something objective to post, please do it.

As you can see, people who have actually bought the phone or are interested in buying the phone come here to discuss and share their views. Even though people here like Sony, they're not going to shell out a big chunk of their money blindly. I want level-headed opinions, the pros and cons. Not some blind fanboy opinions which try to play down the obvious drawbacks or exaggerated nitpicking by people with an agenda against a certain company. People want to know about the phone, the experience of someone who has actually used the phone, not the rants of some guy who is never interested in the phone anyways.

Audio quality is amazing there. The Xperia Z's microphones have been great in all videos I've seen so far.

The low light performance is also quite nice. This particular circumstance must've been a bit more difficult simply because the water keeps coming in and out of the shot, and the phone has to do a bit of work seeking to focus properly, but it does a great job! I've tried filming similar scenes on my point and shoot and it doesn't turn out nearly as good.

Can't wait to get my ZL... it'll be my camera for when I go on vacation in May.

If you don't agree with my opinions then you may ignore them. Im an ex Sony user who is frustrated by the fact that year after year Sony continue to release half baked phones, year after year the same people defend these sub par phones and therefor Sony never learn their lesson, it's such a shame as they do have the know-how to become dominant but they just can't execute it well.

Please, You've seen the comparison page earlier made by pocketPC, You can't really believe it's software related?:D We're not in the Apple world. Even if it's software related. Why a company that has over 10 year experience in mobile field, can't get the display driver right in different firmwares? It's funny, either way it's Sony fault as shit.

Z & ZL with good screen at MWC! Pics from GSMarena today!

Is it just me or did they change colour of the bottom bar and the notification bar? Yesterday when I played with Z it had grey bars and on those pictures you can clearly see that they're black. Hopefully it means that new FW will turn grey bars to black.
And yes, those screens do look good. The one I played yesterday had good screen and my friend that was standing next to me said that the screen did look good. Although I had to change brightness from 100% to +/-70% cause it was too bright for me. It really looked good and for me black was black and the bottom bar was grey which IMO really hurts the way you perceive the screen.

^^^ Fantastic, so take the joke of the day with you and bye bye.
As you described yourself, you're just a frustrated guy without the contact with reality you're talking about.

It has been discussed and also photographed causing many cunfusions:
current UI on Z has GREY bars, at least on some themes.
