I picked mine up today direct from Vodafone, for free, of course. It's a bit bloody good! My last two phones were the S700i and W900i but this just a tad better!

Oh yeah, it's exactly the same battery as the W900i.

Does anyone have the number for O2 upgrades and are they definitely doing the w960i for £299.99?

This is the number I range for O2 upgrades from their website:

01226 784068

Was told £299.99 for SIM free phone. ie no contract. limit 1 per customer.

The options are

*Format Media memory

*Master Reset

have not tried any yet, but master reset will not affect media memory i guess.

well, only those things which r stored in fone memory will be lost, notin the flash drive.
But if u format the flash drive then u will loose everything.

i guess you will have to reinstall them. if you save them on the flashdrive, but the links are on the phone memory

I'd assume the screen is somewhat scratch proof but not excatly sure. I presume its the same screen design as in the W950/M600/P1 etc

No the 950 has a soft screen while the 960 is a hard polycarbonate (or polycarbonate-alike) and feels much more durable.

@bavlondon2;
I like the phone for the most part but what I really really really really really miss (can you guess I miss it a lot) is the back button just next to the jog wheel that you have on the W950. It's so intuitive to use the jog to work your way down through menu's and just click the button back with the same thumb. With the 960 you can jog-click your way down a menu but then have to go back to the front of the phone to back out.

Appalling ergonomics which I don't expect from SE.

The other major issue I have is that the enclosed handsfree is not the HPM-82 that you get with the 950. It's a rubbish one without a remote control. My 950 will be moving on to a nephew but he'll be getting my brand new (but crap) W960 headset.

Other than these points, the phone is great. The o2 version comes with an RSS reader which I'm very pleased about, the video quality is fantastic and the WLAN connects nicely at home without trouble. It's also great to have a camera again so I can send MMS pictures of beer to unsuspecting mates when they're in business meetings. I missed that with the 950. Yes I know I'm a hateful person.

I'm well chuffed with my phone. Still can't get it to connect to my WLAN using WPA and AES and I'm having trouble installing apps from the storage but I think that's me and not the phone!

Battery life seems very good when you switch off 3G...

Cheers,

Derek.

I found with the battery life on the w950 that it was switching between 3g and gprs that caused it to run down. If you fixed it to either one permanently it was much improved....Presume this would apply to w960 also?

i guess u need to install them again...but chances cud be that it may just work. because i rem wen i had 6630 , the apps which wer stored in my mem card worked even after i formated the whole phone..

well try using the se updater, if it has option to re instal the whole firmware agaain then do it...

I've been waiting for this phone for ages. I just called up Vodafone and the lady told me she'd never heard of it! She put me on hold and came back to say that there is none in stock and she doesn't know if they are even stocking them. I informed her that I knew of someone who'd already purchased this phone with them and she said it must have been via a phone 4 u or Carphone warehouse store (which it wasn't)

Can those of you that are on a Vodafone contract, please confirm to me how you got hold of your handset (shop or directly on the phone) and whether you are a personal or business customer? I want to get my facts straight before I call them back.

Oh, and I thought I'd ask them about the N95 8gb to get a rough idea on the upgrade price. She told me it would be....£269 on a 24 month contract!! I'd like to point out i've been with them since 2001 and am currently on their £25 a month stop the clock tariff! shocking!
