tony and orang... I have questions to ask.... basically ineed help!!

i can't use my gprs here in malaysia coz apparently my software is a singapore software... is there such thing?

I can't upgrade my software here in malaysia coz my set is from singapore and it might kill my phone (thta's wat the technician said). Can't they just erase my whole phone, then insert the new malaysian software?

tony can u ask the se people whether if I get my upgrade done in SE malaysia, do i still have my warranty with SE singapore? and could u ask them if it's possible to erase everything and put in malaysian software without killing the phone? thanks!

how do i get to the service Centre by MRT? someone help =)

thanks!!

TonyG- Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.

I don't have the service form number for the earlier upgrade as the guy at the Service Point didn't give it back to me. After some time, I went down to the Kallang SC to try to get the Asian language reloaded after calling up the SC. The girl told me over the phone to bring the phone down for the technician to try coz they weren't sure whether they could restore the Asian language. I went down and they took the phone in to try. But I was later told that they could only load the European language. No service form also as I was waiting and they weren't sure whether it could be done. They kept telling me that the phone is an Euro set and thus couldn't be loaded with Asian languages.

After reading some postings on Esato and Howard regarding the loading of different languages, I thought maybe the technician who tried didn't know how to load the Asian language. So I decided to send the phone in again at Killeney Road Service Point. The service form number is 54723 dated 6/7/02. The phone came back with European language and the same day the phone died. I had to sent it back to Killeney Road Service Point where it was sent back to Kallang SC. They apparently reloaded the European language. The service form number for this one is 55812 on 15/7/02.

Sometimes, I feel that some of their technicians don't know their stuff. Not all but some of them.

Thanks for your help again.

gilthoniel - the goldhill plaza service centre is near newton mrt station. you just have to cross the road and there is a map at the mrt station that shows the location of goldhill plaza.

thanks amlim! btw, your set is a european set? And you maanged to upgrade the sw in singapore without a glitch?

coz the technician here in malaysia told me that if i used malaysian software in my singapore t68i (aren't they the same phone?) it will make my phone go dead.... is that true?
the last time i went down to singapore nokia to upgrade my 6510 (this time a malaysian 6510) they also said the same thing.

the question is, is there such a thing as making the phone go dead if I upgrade the software in a non-local phone?

i've read so many people's posts here and they don't seem to have any problems with this... some people with watersets can also upgrade their phone's sw with no problems at all...

i hope that i can upgrade the sw to a local version so i can use the gprs and in the future if MMS starts here and i'm still stuck with singapore sw, then i'll be super disappointed coz i won't be able to use THE feature that is pioneer in the t68i

i do hope someone can explain this to me... thank you so much!

gilthoniel-> Let me explain to you how SE Singapore operates. SE Singapore will not reject all genuine SonyEricsson phones from all over the world if the phone owners intend to upgrade the sw or repair the phone in Singapore. But they cannot enjoy the free warranty service in Singapore even though if their phones are under warranty in their own country. Only phones that are bought in Singapore are covered by our local warranty. When they send in their phones for upgrading or repair, SESC will charge them accordingly to what they have done. In your case, let me check with SE Singapore to see whether any differences in sw between Singapore and Malaysia. Maybe the sw are the same as you don't have to reset it and re download in Malaysia again. Let me confirm with them. Again I also can't tell you if you send your phone to your country SE authorised SESC for repair and will your warranty be void by our SC that I have to check with SE Singapore. I can only forward your question to SE Singapore on Monday as they are working 5 days week.
