Sonyericsson is kings of fast focus, but more important their Cybershoots have very accurate focus. (it focus very fast & it gets nearly allways sharp right away).
The big exception to this is the old P990i, which has very fast but very inaccurate autofocus... And no autofocus at all in video mode.

P990 AF was working good in older firmwares. But with "updates" that were provided by SEUS, the autofocus for video was removed.

true but cybershots just a branding thing anyway.
Most SE phones with AF are fast and accurate, regardless of they're cybershot or not; the P990 is a deviation from the norm for SE.

Exactly. Going back to my original point, if you buy the C905, you buy it for the camera. Nothing else. That's the whole point of this device. If the INNOV8 takes 8 seconds to take a picture, it's camera is only good for still-life, which is a major limitation. So, because it isn't versatile, it's camera is really more of a gimmick if anything, much like all other Samsung Camera Phones I have used (just my opinion! They're all very slow)
The rest of the INNOV8 is a tech beast, but the C905 is not about that. It's about having a quality, quick point and shoot camera, wrapped in a really nice feature phone. Not just a little bit of everything. |

..exactly! This is what I like about c905 - it's not just the fact it has a highly spec'd camera but that we get that AS WELL as wifi and gps.

I think we have come to a conclusion. The C905 is a highly spec'd camera phone, BUT SE has also implemented WiFi, GPS and other usefull stuff. This have made the phone to be almost a AIO phone, even if thats not the purpose, its just extra features.
The bottom-line: The C905 is a dedicated Camera-phone with so many extra features that many people thinks that it's a AIO phone (and then complains over the lack of stuff that a All-In-One phone should have) |

I know the phone has these extras, but I also know people at work who can't even access Contacts, let alone the Internet over a Wireless Network! Apart from enthusiasts like us, there is only one thing people will see when they get this phone:
8.0 MP Cybershot
That's what this phone is centred around. I bet the Wi-Fi is good, but there are business phones which will do this better. And how often will the average user access the GPS function? Hardly ever in truth.
Most will buy the C905 for the 8.0 mp camera. I mean everyone knows more megapixels means a better camera right? (Calm down everyone! It's a joke!!!!)
They will because the phone buying public are very ignorant of cameras. I hear people in phone shops all the time;
'Cybershot 3.2mp? But this LG has 5.0mp so it's better!'
Not their fault, company's have just used megapixel counts as branding for years now, suggesting the higher the count, the better the product. So people see the 8.0Mp count printed on the side, and buy it cause it's higher than everything else.
So a lot of people will also buy the Samsung for the camera too cause it's higher than everything else (just like all those who own N95's but only text with them) and probably be let down by it's performance, as the Samsung is an all round phone which does a bit of everything, but lacks true performance in all areas cause it crams so much else in.

And what I like the most is: "I hear people in PHONE shops all the time"
