I cannot wait to see Nokia's answer to the X1 next summer!

Which version do you have on your phone ? Shortly after v30.xxx, which had some quirks, v31.xxx came out, didn't solve everything though.
As both our N95's, the N95-2, aswell as the N95-1 I've bought recently (Warm Graphite, always wanted one and they're cheap now ), are running smoothly, I didn't upgrade to v30 and/or v31 anymore.
You know what they say : "When it ain't broken, don't fix it."

Ive got V30 atm its a crabby update I regret installing it. Recentley myphones been playing silly buggers turning of, screen going white, screen going of and keypad still lite up! It mite be a weather thing tho as its ok once its on and warmed up! Is V31 available now then at NUS? |

V31 was available earlier, but was cancelled due to bugs, there's a new version out now for NL language phones, usually this comes later then the English version, so that one should be available also.
Not everything ok with this one either though, I've read two posts on a NL phone forum, about people complaining, that pushing the "zero"-key didn't start up the browser anymore, some others didn't have this problem .
Even worse : some users are reporting signal problems.
Anyways, according to a friend of ours, which knows alot about S60, both v30 and v31 were not really designed to change much, but to prevent the owner from "hacking" his phone, at least make this more difficult.

But the start-up is normal, after this blank screen ?
A colleague of my hubby has this same "problem" with his E51, he thinks the reason can be found in the many apps he has on his phone, so the phone needs more time to "get everything ready", just as pc's do.
Do you have lots of apps on your phone ?
I see, you have a Voda startup screen, is the phone branded ?
Then v31 might not be available for your phone yet, as it usually takes lots of time, before Voda or T-Mobile have an update for their versions.
edit: Now I remember, it's not branded, you've got this phone directly from Nokia, right ?
So the white screen comes up, after the phone's found the network's signal, that's exactly what the E51 (mentioned above) does.

I don't think it's the apps, it the actual firmware cos the update didn't used to do this, it really has buggered up the phone I think before hand you switch it on and it came up with Vodafone straightaway and stayed like it, now it has a nasty gap and kicks into Vodafone!
How dare Nokia ruin myphone
it's bad enuff them trying to get me to buy something else,
they keep sending me emails telling me to upgrade to something upto date and new
I wouldn't mind the Xpress 5800 tbh the price is v.good 249.99
but I don't think it's a adequate replacement for my N95-2 what you lot reck?

Ever since the release of the Symbian S60 version of UCWEB6.3 i dumped OperaMini, with UCWEB6.3 you can do multi-tab browsing, it plays animations/gifs on websites, and uses the websites text field just like other proper smartphone web browsers like Opera8 and 9, PIE, S60 Webkit browser etc. . .also loads pages a lot faster than Opera Mini and all this without eating up RAM like OperaMini does, then again i hate Java apps with a passion, and as great as OperaMini is for casual browsing it sux for anything else.
EDIT: Link to Symbian S60 version of UCWEB6.3: http://forum.ucweb.com/viewthread.php?tid=209
