you are right, but this just reinforces the idea that they will launch an even more improved version if the launch is in january has it is being said |

Hi all,
Please don't misunderstand my intentions here, I am not trying to start anything i just thought that you may find the following of interest for comparison purposes only with Symbian 9.1 OS S60 3rd Edition on my N93 .
I have 22.2 MB free RAM on start and this is with Handy Taskman, Handy Safe and Nokia Search, applications installed, and Tom Tom 6 installed on the memory card and contacts, and Calendar both with Data in them but only Handy Taskman running.
With Web browser running and My-Symbian Mobile site loaded in it, I have 20.0 MB free RAM left, with both the Web browser and Messaging (in SMS Inbox view) I have 19.1 MB left. this was using the Nokia Wap browser. If i use the full Nokia browser it uses far more Ram but does got to the full My Symbian site and the figures are 15.8MB with the messaging inbox open it drops to13.9MB
When i then close all apps with Handy Taskman it goes back to 22.2MB free Ram with Handy Taskman still running using either of the browsers makes no difference to this figure.
The first firmware upgrade increased Ram by 5mb and the next one due soon has no mention of an increase in Ram but will speed start up by cutting 2-3 seconds off the time taken along with some other improvements mainly to do with the camera and added functionality.
The point is both phones are running Symbian OS 9.1 it is only the user interface that is different between UIQ3 and S60 3rd Edition. Even though the S60 version does not seem to suffer from memory leaks it is still restricted in just how much multitasking it can cope with as this is a problem shared with all Symbian OS 9.1 devices IMO due to a lack of physically installed Ram and the fact that OS 9.1 seems far more Ram hungry then previous Symbian Os's.
The fact SE has managed to increase the amount of Ram is encouraging but i really do think SE will need to resolve the memory leak issue as this is a major problem as doing nothing the RAM deceases the longer it is running irrespective of closing or killing running apps as well at least that was my experience with my M600. This is why your SE devices fail to reclaim all the RAM on closing or killing the apps. Hopefully SE can resolve the memory leak issues and satisfy some if not all your needs.
Marc

@Dogmann
Yes, I would say that memory leak is the main problem because it forces manual restart in order to regain multitasking capacity. But more RAM will also do good to it, no doubt. Let's wait a bit more and see.
@Tail
Very glad your phone is more stable now. Look on M3 video converter, you'll love your phone much more, I am astonished with DVD quality. |

GUYSI think i discovered something VERY INTERSTING while waiting for the next firmware i dont think this was posted before .. .
you know when you get low in memory after like 2 days of use and when u get only 6-7 mb of ram and you cant reclaim anymore ram then try closing the securityapp using swiss manger i dont think this should be or allowed to be closed but it can be closed and guess what it releases around 3 mb of ram and u will end up with 9-10 mb of ram which is great could it be that the securityapp was the reason for the leaks ?? |

@ Dogmann
I know what you mean, i to have a Nokia (N80). This never happands to it, allways gives me my RAM back on that one. So lets just hope SE will solve this out.
To koto, thanks alot. Its seems alot more stable now

@dogman, notice also what michal from my-symbian said about OS speed with the fw version he has (lightning fast), so SE is not just working on the RAM issue |
