Strange, I remember several IRA attacks on London (that is, ones I personally experienced).

I remember a lot of anger at the USA for funding the IRA (which didn't stop until 11 Sept. 2001).

Carrying an ID card won't help and locking people up without due process merely fuels extremism. The Prime Minister said this morning that this would not change "our way of life". I sincerely hope it doesn't.

@jemo - true, we've put up with worse - the IRA, the Nazis etc. We will not be cowed by this, many people grew up with the IRA's constant bomb attacks so we are 'used' to terrorist attacks and how to deal with them.

The best thing for everyone to do is to carry on as normal as much as possible, once people start changing plans, cancelling things and so on that means the terrorists have won. Carry on regardless, stick two fingers up at these cowardly b*stards and say 'we will not be moved' by continuing life as normal.

the u.s still funds sinn fein/ira, not remember seeing gerry addams, an the gala dinner that was held for him releasing his new book, when americans were cheering for a known terrorist and murderer, and a man that wants to break northern ireland off from the rest of the uk

I'm talking about this in regards to Al Quieda terrorists, not the IRA. The IRA I believe often gave coded warnings before bomb attacks, and never used suicide bombers (they suspect at least one bomb today was a suicide bomber).

I agree though, we should not change our way of life one bit, that's the best way to show these people we will not be beaten.

There is a very simple way to end all this violence....We can withdraw from Iraq and give the country back to the people we have murdered and occupied...Create a Truly Independent Palestine away from the clutches of the Israeli's...and if by magic you find their will be no more acts of terrorism against us and we can live happily ever after.
