Mine is:04W47 & made in Japan also!My hardware version is:R4A.So,could you guys, please, post your hardware version to see if there's an issue with it?And also, post the date & place of production!By the way,i sent an e-mail to SE here,in Greece & i wait for a reply!I wrote them that i don't want an answer like:go to a service point to have your phone checked but i want a clear answer because that's a known problem!By the way, mine handset is unbranded! So,please, post the hardware version, the date & the place! |

04w40 made in Japan
R3B032
Customisation
CDA 1023 10/49 R 1A
EU_2
Bought 2nd hand - appears to be unbranded (unlocked, no operator specific f/w or icons)
It doesn't reboot when I place it on a metal surface or other methods mentioned here.
It does however reboot if I have a note displayed on the standby screen and use wap/My Friends (O2 payg gprs) The same thing as described already. The screen appears not to refresh properly or something as half of the lines disappear and the whole thing seems to fade a bit before the phone restarts itself.
The only other time it has reset was when typing an sms, typed a ..D to give a smiley and it reset (this reminds me of my k700 - to put a smiley in i had to go "spell" a word otherwise it would crash)
Hope this helps!
Have a look at some of the photo's on my site, they can be quite good (no adult content!) |

Almost all S700 have been made in Japan, mine is too. As I can see all of you with reboots have rather old phones. Maybe this is the reason?

poutsaras
where can I find hardware version?
All I got under the battery is:
Sony Ericsson S700i 2738/50
Type: AAB-10210510-BV GAAAA ALS
FCC ID: PY7A1021051 IC: 4170-A1021051
S/N: BF7A791864 IMEI: ***************
o5W06
Made in Japan
CE 0682
BTW 2738/50 means something, these numbers can be different for phones. Maybe this is the hardware revision?

Got it!
I've got "DPY 101 2738/50 R8A" on the box. I hope that R8A is not a cardboard box revision
Ok, what we have in the end:
1. 41 and 45th week of 2004 have problems with rebooting near e/m radiation devices or just bulky metal things
2. 2005 phones seems not to have them

You're right mb-new!Your hardware version is R8A!So,you must have a pretty new phone! My phone also(04W47)has the problem of rebooting but not a lot of times! So,come on & the others!Post the hardware version of your handset that listed on the sticker of the box next to IMEI!It starts as:R-number-letter.
