All I know (from what I've read on Esato) is that R2AA is supposedly a developer release. It may or may not have the extended search in the phonebook that has been previously mentioned as part of R2Y.

Give it a few hours and I'm sure as more people log-on and read your posts if they know more they'll say!

Interesting question! I *think* the hardware is the same, so they should be identical? Maybe someone with a K700 can give it a try and post the results here?

Has anyone else noticed a problem on the K700i when sending DTMF tones? For people who are not familiar with DTMF an example is: 0800800800p123456. The phone freezes for about 30 seconds before the tones are sent. It should only pause for about 3 seconds when a "pause" (p) is entered. This has happened to me on both the R2A and the R2L versions (although it did work ok once without freezing).

Also, has anyoe else noticed that there is a "beep" sound every 20 seconds when recording a call? I wish this was removed as both parties can hear it and it is annoying!

Updated the first post to give additional information about R2AA003.

@tess
Either use the online update service or take your phone to a SE Service Centre

@ebsor
I should think R2L is your latest

@RedDwarf2002

Yes, I've noticed the delay in dialling numbers after the 'p' . It is pretty annoying, in fact, often its quicker to dial the second set of numbers yourself.

The reason that it beeps while recording is so that the caller knows they're being recorded as it is illegal to record conversations without the callers permission in many countries

Hi!
Does anybody knows something about disabling the noise that sounds while taking a photo?
With Vodafone version of the firmware it was possible to mute it changing volume level to 0.
I flashed and updated the firmware to R2AA003 yesterday, and I've noticed that this doesn't work now. I don't find the way to take a photo whithout that noise.
Could anybody tell me what to do?
How does it works at R2L version? Is there a way to disable the noise at R2L and R2AA?
Thanks!!

I think one of the ways SE can increase the battery life is to switch the display-light off on a long call. I'm sometimes on a call for over 2 hours and the backlight never goes off - it's just dimmed. Would it not be more sensible to switch the backlight off after about 1 min and if you want to turn the backlight on again just move the joystick or something?

All I can say is that SE have employed some of our four legged ancestors!

Just upgraded my k700i to R2L. (Waiting and watching for improvements)

@guimosal - Set silent mode on by pressing the # or 'c' key for 3 seconds. It works for me.
