Sony ericsson is trying to evolve their phone models to "PDA" type / "Pocket-PC" type...
Hopefully there will be such a thing as "Sonyericsson PDA Brilliant Phone" in future!~ Cheers

So Nokia has taken the contract of EDGE in TeliaSoneras networks. This doesn't mean that EDGE will be avialable tomorrow. Look at 3G network contracts... still not many available despite the contracts being signed for a long time.
Also in the second article that you pasted.. EDGE is mentioned as a complementary to 3G. This is the way Telia has said they want to use EDGE in Sweden (if PTS (=the Board for Post and telecom issues) allows them to use EDGE as a replacement for UMTS in low-populated areas). And a lot of other operators are thinking about EDGE in this way. Which might mean that EDGE will not be available in the entire networks (to start with) and that they will offer EDGE to 3G-phone users and not to GSM users (at least not for some time, and maybe not at all). But UMTS phones with EDGE support is most likely something we will see until 3G coverage is as good as the GSM networks coverage.
I'm have nothing against EDGE as a technololgy but I don't think it will take off on it's own, but as a 3G complement it has it's uses.
The public has some sense about what 3G is but almost nobody knows what EDGE is and more importantly doesn't care, for these people GPRS is more than enough. The rest of the people will most likely go for 3G phones. |

the comparing photos on clubsonyericsson show us that the S700 is not THAT big. Its +- as long as the T610, just a bit thicker. But so is the Z600.
T*** = CandyBar
S*** = Smartphone?
Z*** = Clamshell
K*** = ??? Whats with the K? I think the K700 will be more expansive then other SonyEricssons (T610,T630,Z600) where.

EDGE will only be available for those people who lives on the countryside here in Sweden. Nothing special with that.
3G is the future and not EDGE.
EDGE is only a poor alternative instead of real 3G network. |

which all kind of begs the question, how interested in this phone will the major networks be when they will start wanting all their high arpu customers to move to 3g by the end of the year...
just sort of suggests there is only going to be a short window of opportunity for this phone before we start to expect our high end phones to be 3g...

yup SE is now incorporating EDGE and rdios into their phones. nokia was the innovator in putting radios in phones years ago and setting up
EDGE networks all around and they say nokia is low tech and a copy cat tsk tsk tsk... when SE puts radios and uses EDGE now in their up coming phones the SE hard core cult fanatic members applaude SE for it.
ooppsss... now i will be bombarded with crap from SE fanatics now. typical really

Well Nokia should make handsets with better ring tones, MUCH better display, fix their uuuugly design and worst thing of all , (wash away the badge as potential bomb). |

It seems SE copied the design of their I-mode phone S0505iS, but it looks far better then S700 i think.

The clubsonyericsson.com website says that it rotates 360° degrees, I think thats not true and it rotates only in one direction (180°)
except the color i like the japanese version more. European customers like the models more simple, but the buttons from the S700 are a bit to simple i think.

"The release date is expected to be Q4 2004 and the price won't be less than 450€" From Clubsonyericsson So that means no more than 553.262 USD.

Suitan
How did "price won't be less than" turn into "no more than"?
The price on this phone is pure speculation at the moment. I doubt even know what they are going to price it at.
