Yes! I've got my p900 internet connection over BT working! Surfing on my p900 for free and very fast! I've used the free Share2Blue2thv scripts. Read the read-me file for p800/900 info. |

i'm pretty sure BluePhoneMenu allowed me to make calls on the P800... i'll stick my sim back in it and give it a try tomorrow.
cheers for the video tips, some proggies i didn't know about
Quicktime Pro makes it really easy to convert quicktime movies into something the K700/P8/900 can use.
just been trying some extravigantly encoded tunes my 256K AAC's work fine, sounds great Apple Lossless doesn't work, surprise surprise |

If you have one of these Bluetooth Adapters:
You can use Apple's Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.1 to provide improvements in the update installation process, better performance when waking the computer from sleep, and support for additional key commands during startup.
Even though Apple say's the update is only for D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later) and is unsupported with any other Bluetooth modules, I found it works perfectly on the Sitecom adapter above.
Who knows, it may work on other Bluetooth Adapters too?
BTW, this update is for Mac OS X 10.2.8 (with Bluetooth Update 1.3.3) and Mac OS X 10.3.3 and later, it's not recommended for 10.3, 10.3.1 or 10.3.2

Hi Guys,
Looks like some helpful Mac people in here so I thought I'd give this a shot... (long time Esato lurker)
Anyways, I just got a T616 (for FREE) from my service provider... its a little out of date, I know.. anyways I have gone through the gamut of finding PhoneAgent, finding out it costs too much, finding out that theme files are actually TAR files and you can edit them manually... etc. etc.
I am very proficient with Photoshop so I would actually prefer to do it this way. However I have run into problems re-TAR'ing the theme. When I roll my own, only the XML colours seem to be read - no images show up on the phone (which looks damn fugly). I've tried DropTAR (from Stuffit suite), TarPit, GUITar, etc. Even if I take an existing working theme, rename it, unTAR it, then reTAR it again, same deal - all colours no images.
I think its a file type kind of problem, or something about encoding that I am missing.
I would appreciate it if other manual theme-creating Mac users would tell me what they are using to TAR up the themes when they are done... especially since, I've noticed that while you cannot Save with PhoneAgent, you CAN export all the bits and pieces after making your own with the shareware version... and then its only 1 step away (TAR) from being a theme. You can basically use it for free to make themes if you can TAR that folder properly afterwards.
Thanks for any help in advance. (and thank you, Esato) |

Hi thatguywhoiam,
It's been a while since I was making theme's for my T610.
But there are a few things I do remember;
1st when using stuffit, you can choose in what way the .tar file is made.
It's important you don't use any compression, check the preferences.
2nd I always used pico (standard in your terminal) to edit the .xml files, I think it had something to do with the break lines.
3rd I always used .gif's (can't remember if it was necessary)
Like I said it's been a while, so maybe I'm forgetting something and it doesn't solve anything .
You can ask Joolsg3 for some tips, I know he also has been playing with it.
Good luck!

In reply to my own post about converting movies to .mp4 to view on your P800/900.
I've tried smartmovie for my P900 and I'm blown away by it!
Using ffmpegx (freeware) I've converted some movies and clips to xvid .avi.
Even when the source files were divx, it just looked great!
I've used the following settings;
VIDEO:
MPEG4 .avi (ffmpeg)
Width: not more than 320
Height: not more than 208
Video bitrate: between 90 and 140 kbit/s (more is not really needed and can give choppy movies)
Framerate: about half the original (12 for PAL and 15 for NTSC)
AUDIO
.mp3
Audio bitrate: 24 kbit/s
Sampling: 20500
Channels: Mono
Mode: VBR
Audio gain: +3
For even higher quality you could try "High quality", "two-pass encoding" and/or "three-pass encoding"
Of-course you can use any of your favorite encoders, as long as the codec is supported by smartmovie.
There is one but; fast movies like snowboard movies do chop easier than when using .mp4 and the standard movie player. |

Hopefully you mac guys can help me
I need to know how you delete files from card reader. When I load onto desktop and see my 128 ms I drag files into trash, but the memory still stays on the ms even though the files are gone. What is happening
I know I can delete them on board the phone but it a pain using two devices.
Thanks in advance.

I noticed the same thing when using my Mac to delete files from a SmartMedia card in a connected digital camera.
For some reason, the Mac puts the deleted files in a folder called .Trashes in the root directory (I think) of the media card. Open this folder and you'll find all your supposedly deleted files. Delete it and the space will be freed up.
You might need to use some utility such as File Buddy to see and delete the .Trashes folder as by default this is an invisible folder (denoted by the period at the start of the name). |

I use FreeTar 1.1.1 to create the phone compatible TAR archives, then rename them to .thm.
You'll have to experiment with the settings as if I remember correctly it took me a few attempts to get them right. As 2manydjs said, the TAR archives should be created without compression. |

Jools found a way to do it. It's longwinded but works. Here goes
Open disk, click find on ms drive or whatever, click on add criteria choose visibilty, all, hey presto .trashes
Now I drag files to trash click ok a couple of times and they're gone.
Could not done it without your help

You may find this link useful. It describes a way to make deletions from memory cards permanent and instant, without messing around!

To anyone using a card reader:
When you trash anything on a removable device, it remains in the device's Trash directory. You need to empty the trash before removing the card. |

Hi - i've got a mac & a K700 - great combo. get online, send mp3s & photo's fine but..... How do I make a ringtone the phone can use? Can I turn an MP3 into a midi file?
Also, Is there a better way to sync entourage with phone as Salling's Mobile sync only seems to allow one phone no per contact meaning my 450 contacts will not fit into phone memory. Isync works better, but only with address book which is pants! |

@peter freeman
The phone can use MP3 files as ringtones, so there's no need to convert from MP3 to MIDI!
Unfortunately you can't sync Entourage as smoothly as Address Book. But that's to be expected as Apple implement the Bluetooth iSync'ing they're bound to make it work best with Address Book. Personally I much prefer Address Book anyway. Give it a try!
The phone has enough space for 510 contacts. However, do you really need all 450 contacts with you at all times? Maybe you could just sync a subset of them? |

@jools,
Mac and Entourage sync quite well, especially if you are using the newest version of MS Office. There is also a conduit (GoBetween) that works very well and I have had no problems at all. Address book is not so bad as well, but Entourage can compete in everyway except sending SMS's.
