R6B will likely void your warranty since it was never released. R4C is still the latest T610 firmware.

is this post really old? i updated my firmware and i have R6B004.
how are they named? is it the number after the "R" or the second letter ("B")?
btw about the t630 firmware, i doubt it would cause any physical damage to the t610 screen, it just won't work properly (but would still work with the t610). things don't have to have an exact power rating to function properly, and sometimes slight differnces don't do any damage (maybe heat it up a bit).
i think the main reason people haven't put t630 screens in the t610 is becuase A: noone has yet broken a t630 and so there are no spares, and B: the firmware for the t630 isn't readily available so people have to have a t630 to get the firmware, and if they have one they won't want to put a t610 screen in it and convert it to a t610.
just my thoughts.

In your response.
Yes is possible to install, the same firmware any time you want. There is no problem with that.

Okay, first, you can put the T630 screen into the T610. It's been done, and damn, it looks nice. For about $30 USD for a cable, and $50 for the screen, and a little tech knowledge, you can have a T630!
About unbranding and flashing, you can flash your phone, and keep everything on your phone (except your "My Words" (for predictive text)). When you unbrand your phone, you keep very little (you'll keep the names of the Profiles (if you named them), but not the settings of the profiles, and you'll also keep your Voice Commands). Depending on the GDFS that you flash with, you might lose your contacts, too. You lose all settings, themes, ringers, pictures and most everything else.
If you have any questions about flashing/unlocking/unbranding, I'll take them.

A word of advice!
I jz upgraded my T610 from R3C to R4C and had a bad experience. After leaving the SE Center, I tested the camera and it worked fine. Until I took a pic and it hanged there. Waited for 5 mins and nothing happened. As usual took out the battery to reset the hard way.
Things got worse, as I found out my bluetooth, infrared and wap all stopped working. That is they cannot be activated. I called SE up again and asked me to send in my phone again with the excuse that the flash was probably not done correctly!
Anyone had an experience like mine and care to share? |

Are you sure that you took your phone to an AUTHORIZED SE SERVICE POINT? Ask them for their certificate from Sony Ericsson.
What you have described is the result of using other tools to hack firmware onto your phone incorrectly. There are incorrect crossreferences in your phone, because the firmware files do not match up.
Sony Ericsson's upgrade tools would not leave your phone in that state. This should be easily fixed at a real Sony Ericsson Service Point.

Java games may be deleted when the customizations are changed. Usually the customization's are not touched when performing a firmware upgrade on an unsubsidized phone.

Hi, I have a T-Mobile branded T610 (AP set in this corner of the world), and it currently has the R1L013 China 1 firmware. I want to upgrade it to R4C003, and I have a few questions:
1. I was told that I might potentially kill the phone if I flash a T-Mobile phone with non T-Mobile firmware. Is it true? If it is, any way to revive the phone once I kill it?
2. A phone shop told me that T-Mobile phones can be upgraded to firmware LG4003. I thought it was a mistake, as I've never heard of this firmware (and there are no info on it online). But the shop insisted that it's LG4003 and not R4C003. Anyone else heard of this firmware or has it?

upgrading the firmware will not ruin your phone in any way. all T610's are the same after all, and changing the software will not hurt it.
about hte different firmware versions, the one they';re talking about is probably the t-mobile branded one. i'm not excatly sure what t-mobile do, but vodafone's firmware changes all the icons to nasty 3 colour ones and changes the right softkey in standby to a link to the internet.
