i called them last night after having a p900 for a week and tried to downgrade and before id even started on my pre planned speach the woman said "You have to be connected for 3 months before you can downgrade" even when i tried blackmail by saying politely that i would cancel the contract if they did not, no joy. I then tried the "where does it say it in the contract method" and the operator said she could not find it but that it was a "procedure" and the system would not allow her to change it, by this point i could tell by the tone in her voice she was getting annoyed so i decided not to push it as im going to try again soon.
Im not too bothered really as i think ive got the phone cheap anyway but the money is better off in my pocket
Isnt it hard work trying to get through compared to orange, ive phoned them twice and both times it took 20 mins each compared to about 2-5 on orange.... not good |

Try again, it depends if you get an experienced or unexperienced person (there systems do not impose controls as I managed on my second attempt). The O2 monthly call allowance includes 0870 type numbers so calling twice shouldn't be too costly. |

@Jah - o2 customer care is indeed a 0870 number how it is not included in the inclusive minutes. It is charged at 50p per minute. But this 50s per minute only begins to be charged once you get connected to the operator, not for the time you are waiting listening to that 'great' music

am i right in thinking that if i subscribe to www.accountmanAgement.o2.co.uk that i will no longer recieve bills through the post? is that what it means by no "paper" invoice of charge?
i think i'd rather have the paper bills. |

No. If you register with accountmanagement you will still get your bill thru the door. The account management website is just an added boots to be able to check up on your bundles and call charges to date. Its good, i think.

Are you absolutely certain? The accountmanagement web site says, quite explicitly: Following activation of your registration for Account Management you will not receive any "paper" invoice from us for the charges you incur. You will be able to access details of your account, including up to 3 months invoice summary together with details of certain unbilled to date calls atwww.accountmanagement.o2.co.uk. |

Well since august 2002 i have been a member of account management and have always recieved a bill stating the total. I have never signed for an itemised bill so thats what maybe they are on about. Personally i feel that if you have access to a computer why on earth would you want to pay 2'50 each month for paper list when its available online for free.

Well, as you can see, this is my first post on esato, but I hope I'll be of some help.
I currently work for O2 Retail, and have done so for around 6 months now. I'm also the owner of 3 O2 (contract) phones - 6310i on O2 Online 200, O2 XDA on Leisure Time & Data 5, SE P900 on O2 400 (with the last 2 having a staff discount).
OK, now the "All phones free" offer is still on. Basically it means you can get any phone (excluding some like XDA / XDA II) dependent on tariff. There are some phones you can get free on any tariff (Nokia 6100, 7210, Motorola E365, O2 X1, etc), some on O2 200 (7250i, T610, Z600, Samsung V200, etc) and some on O2 400 (P800/900, Samsung P400/E700, Nokia 8910(i), etc). We're never told when it's gonna end, rather "Offers valid from **/** until further notice". It's pretty good for our connections, but I guess all good things must come to an end.
As for the 3 month debate, I'm not sure what the legal deal is on that. I have only studied law for 1 year (last year) and it was mainly Scots' Law, but from what I understand if a condition is made clear to you before you agree to a contract then it is binding, as long as the court feels it was properly incorporated (though not necessarily written). However, as I say, I am no expert in this field. From O2's point of view, the retail stores are currently being told you can change down after 3, and most customer services representatives (in my experience) will hold you to it. Of course, you might get one who won't, and that'll be your luck. There is - naturally - a flip side, which you may or may not want to consider. Whenever you take a high value phone like a P900, and immediately change it down to Leisure Time you're causing the company a loss... making them less able to make such offers in the future. I guess I'm just being protective of the company, but seriously think about it.
Account management... well, that's a mixed bag. I know on the web-site it says two things which I've heard varying reports about. The "It normally takes 3 working days to process your request" thing. When I signed up for my XDA it did take around that time, although subsequently I've heard people say it takes weeks, or perhaps they never hear anything. I've just registered for the P900.. have to see what happens (though I guess it is the "festive period"). As for the paper bill: I still do get a paper bill after signing up, I have colleagues who don't and those who don't. I also have a friend who no longer does... I really don't know where the truth lies... It might depend on the person who processes it - who knows, eh?
Anyway, I sense I've just been rambling, but I hope I've done at least a little more than just confuse matters.
Cheers, and remember that you can ask me stuff about O2... though I don't guarantee an answer! |
