@scotsboyuk
another user highlighted that p900 problem. i'm looking into it right now. but it'll have to wait a while. the power supply of the laptop which i use for sman development has gone KAPUT! need to get a replacement next week.
btw, what's your email address? i'll send you a test copy to see if things work (once i resolve the laptop issue).
@lectrosoul:
the findfile function will be something for v1.3. it will definitely come in handy.
@prevail:
that's a known issue with the bluetooth stack on the p800. not sure if it still exists on the p900 or not. we've mentioned it in the manual.

If you want icons designed without a ransom note then give me a shout.
Maybe the answer to keep everyone sweet is have an option to choose which icon you would like to use from withing Sman? that way everyone happy - the ass doesnt bother me and I'm not a teenager either!

ajack or droll
i just installed your app on my p900. it is a real asset....and you guys did a great job.
when installing, according to ajack, you need the ms duo in the phone. i noticed that once installed...it does have a file on the ms now. is it safe to reformat the ms (ie lose that file left behind from the install), and continue to use the sman app?
fyi - i am also having the same problem with the p900 that scottsboy reported.

@lectrosoul:
we'll look into it but no promises. we've got plenty of features on our to-do list and they need prioritization or we'll never get 1.3 out of the door. hope you understand.
also, bluetooth is inherently secure by design as long as you don't pair a device. there are limitations to what you can do with anonymous BT devices.
@all the p900 users:
pls be patient. once i sort out my laptop problem and fix this sman issue, we'll release a p900 only bug fix on our web site. i'm guessing now that p800 users won't need to download this copy - only p900 users. but, this copy should work on the p800 as well.
@jmburt:
the file you mention is smanrecog.mdl. this file is located in d:recogs. you can remove that file but you lose the autostart capability.
that's also one of the reasons why sman currently can't be installed on any other device that doesn't have a D: drive (also why you need the ms-duo in your phone).
we're working on a mechanism to overcome this but there is great risk! if the MDL is copied to your C: drive and the mdl fails for some reason, there is a very, VERY good chance your phone cannot boot-up anymore. your only option then is to send it to a service centre to get it reflashed.
having it on the ms-duo is helpful because if your phone hangs during boot-up due to the MDL, you simply ensure that the duo isn't in your phone when you boot it up so the MDL never gets launched.

I never used this application so excuse me if this already is
possible. (I would use it if I had a Px00)
Anyway can't you just make an option named toggle autostart
or something simular and what it would do is check if the startup
file is on d: (the duo) if it is then remove it (toggle off)
if it isn't create it there (toggle on).
This way if ppl reformat their memory stick or switch between several
memory sticks all they have to do it start sman and click on that
option.
(I coded applications and see this as an very easy thing to do but
I never coded for symbian so can't really say if it's possible).
Just an idea though.

yes, that is quite easy to do and quite possible. ajack even suggested it as a fix to another issue actually - installing sman WITHOUT a memory stick in the phone. right now you can't do that. you need the MS to install sman.
the real issue of your phone's boot-up sequence being messed up is still there either way. in ajack's words - "we're giving the user a loaded gun".... and we don't want to be the reason for p800/900 users having to go back to SE for a re-flash of their phone.
BTW, for users who've had problems installing/uninstalling SMan on the p900 (with some weird error about something being In Use and cannot be removed), refer to the following my-symbian link -> http://www.my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11589

Why is this an issue? If the function just check if the file is on
the memorystick and put it there if there is an memorystick to access
and the file ain't there. If you can't boot then remove the memorystick
and boot. Don't put if on the internal mem where it's risky.
If you have it like this then you can install sman and use it and
you can easerly enable autostart IF theres a memorystick inserted.
Requirement for autostart would be to have a memorystick in the phone. (Sorry if I don't have the full picture of the problem)

no, you have it right. i misread what you typed.
that is the suggestion from ajack too for allowing sman to be installed on devices that don't have a D: drive.
it's something i will look into for v1.3 |

being a p800 owner i have used and loved sman- mainly for the bluejacking option.
Dont flame, but i have now bought a 6600 to go with my p800 and was wondering if sman could be ported to work on series 60 devices? |
