when will Lenie get that CZ-P01? that new model is a big improvement over the last CZ-85 she got! cleaner cut steel, full frame-underlug, longer beaver-tail, better shaped grip.
and who's the buyer of that two-tone CZ85 now? my officemates are interested. |

Nephilim you can't go wrong with any of the choices you mentioned as they are all well made firearms. It boils down to personal preference, price, magazine capacity and feel. You can also add compact pistols from Glock and Steyr to your choices. If its solely for the house, size isn't supposed to be a consideration and you're better off getting a fullsized pistol since compacts are harder to shoot well and are meant to be carried. Also, in my opinion for home defense, the shotgun is the best way to go.

yeah, inasmuch as you intend to use it for home defense, a full-sized model is best. as doc pointed out, a short or compact version will be harder to align the sight to your target, specially under stress. and for first time owners i may suggest the standard beretta (M92 (?)). it has the easiest disassembly mechanism, so that cleaning won't be a heavy chore for you. it has manual safety (which i think is a must for first time users), de-cock, single-and-dual action trigger mode, and all you could ask for. durability? remember this beretta model has been the standard armed forces issue of the US. and even here in our country.
the CZ-75/85 is another good one. tho' in the the disassembly manner... the beretta is easier. but hey, we have a female friend who uses a CZ85, and according to her, disassembly is no big deal for her. so there... it is another great gun.
a 12-guage is another nice intruder-sweeper. nice to use for sprawling properties. but consider checking your house... small spaces, tight backyards, peering thru windows, looking behind closed doors, checking if a burglar hid there, or entering that door.... a longer weapon can be grabbed easily by a waiting-for-ambush intruder. you would still need a handgun back-up.

At least the right to bear arms is guaranteed in their constitution, unlike here where firearm laws are knee-jerk at best and whimsical at the least.
Watched SWAT last week(Pirated obviously, shame on me I know) and its treatment of LAPD's SWAT seems to be accurate. Very few guns are seen though, only retrofitted M4's for the men, kimber 1911's, MP5's, one .50 cal rifle(can't discern the make, probably a ROBAR) and AK-47's. |

yeah at least it's in their constitutional rights, while here it is only within the right to protect our loved ones and property (does that mean just using a baseball bat? and accurately locally that is a dos-por-dos ...against M-16s?).
pitting our reasoning prowess against anti-gunners is like an excercise in futility sometimes. and they change their point of view only after they got held-up in the city, or intruders enter their house, or they have been terrorized somehow. then they come up to me and ask me how to acquire firearms. at that point i am still not happy because i'm almost sure their attitude with guns are still wrong. i mean they now want guns because of anger.
i used to think the no-win discussion is confined to politics and religion. now may i add ...the "pros and cons of gun ownership". |

Got my glock 30 today and tested it at the Northstar range in Makati Cinema square. You're right its a great gun, very accurate inspite of its being a subcompact, easy to put all shots within the ten ring at 10 yards. My HK now has to compete with this gun for use at the range back home. Happy shooting, the anti-gunners just don't know what they're missing. We know better. |

@doc, boysaint, thanks for the reply. My officemate who's a gun freak has also told me to go the way of a shot gun. Problem is, where to keep it in the house. I'm still considering which way to go. No rush from my end, really.

No problem, If you're going for a shotgun and price is no object, for autoloaders check out the Benelli M1 or M3 super 90. The Remington 11-87 series or Mossberg 9200 series are cheaper alternatives. If you fancy pump action, check out the remington 870 series and mossberg 500 series. The Benelli M3 super 90 is nice because it can be switched from semi-auto to pump action with a device at the end of the forearm. Happy hunting |

doc,
looks like Globe is really going the nasty route. they have blocked a lot of wap sites. i cant seem to check HKpro, (or any other site for that matter) even with opera browser on my P800 now. |

I still have my Globe postpaid line but it has largely been relegated to voice calls and SMS only. I use Sun for my GPRS/WAP, e-mail needs. Globe's greed will get the better of them one of these days. |

yeah i still have my Globe postpaid. but am waiting for any changes. just give me a great good shove and i'll try the other service providers. is Sun good for GPRS/WAP? do they allow GPRS for Sun prepaid? |

Yes, sun's GPRS can be used by prepaid accounts. This post was made with my sun prepaid. The only reason i'm hanging on to my globe is because i don't want to pay the pretermination fee. 7 months more of this Shitty globe service and i'm definitely giving my postpaid line up. Although i'm with you in hoping that a miracle happens and they bring back their old excellent service.
