The good thing is they are acknowledging it and addressing it instead of pretending everything is fine.

The VII has been discontinued worldwide. All Amazon sites have removed it. Wondamobile too. Many Sony sites. I think the problem is huge.

Finally I have my 1 VII configured.
It took a while for the phone to start configuring after I inserted the SIM card. Guess it was due to changing the system language. Once I could start, everything was in Swedish. No Japanese or English.

Yes, I meant the factory sticker.

And I have the official case (2 pieces, one in reserve). I have the same for 1 VI, but the stand is of bad quality. I have used the stand very rarely, but today it came loose broken and is unusable. Luckily I had a spare case.

I want to have the lock screen clock centered like all previous Xperia phones. There is a centered lock screen clock, but I don´t like that clock. In 1 II, 1 V and 1 VI there are several centered lock screen clocks to choose, but in 1 VII only 1.
Best option was to be able to move the position of the clock.

Lock screen clock position

Again, the Model 1 VII has been removed from sale globally. Amazon, wondamobile, Sony have all pulled the device pending investigation.

The forum has finally been resurrected. I missed these downtimes on the site, haha. What happened in the Xperia world during this time?
1) Cases of sudden death of the 1VII have multiplied worldwide (which is why global sales were halted).
2) Sony has identified the problem as a manufacturing defect in the motherboard (only on certain batches).
3) IMEI check sites have been made available to users to verify whether the phone they purchased is among the affected batches (a global recall and replacement program for defective devices will begin soon).
4) Sony has corrected the production chain so it can resume selling defect-free devices.
5) Sales of the 1VII have resumed on Amazon.
Let's hope they've truly addressed a problem that could have caused serious damage to Sony.
I was the first here on the forum and the first on Reddit to complain about the sudden death of the device. Mine was immediately replaced with a new device from the new batches free from the manufacturing defect. @Maratonmannen, did you check your IMEI?

Welcome back to Xperia world!
We have had some downtimes, but not this long. I have checked several times daily.

Yes, I checked my IMEI on the Japanase support site.

Japan IMEI

I have no complaints, it´s running fine since day 1, July 5.

Nice to hear from you again. Great news that your IMEI isn't from the affected batches: this is important, because people with devices from the reported batches have seen their phones die even after 50 days of use.

Good to be back.

I need to find a source for spigen screen protector that ships to the US. there must be some kind of patent or licensing issue that prevents them from selling it here.

have either of you guys played much with the cameras? that's probably the most important feature to me.

i'm sure it will be an improvement over the 1ii i have.

Ultra HDR make the lights and whites Pop out more and add volumes as compared with xperia 1vi photos. Use your phone or display which Support HDR to see the difference.

It seems that restart problems are occurring even on replaced devices and devices that are not eligible for replacement. But there appears to be no bricking.

1 VII 16GB/512GB is no longer listed on Amazon Japan. It has been there since late May until a few days back.
12GB/256GB and 512GB are still listed, all 3 colors.

My 1 VII still has the June 1 security update for Andoid.
My 1 VI has the July 1 security update.

Same for you others with 1 VII?

Update your Play Store first and you'll most likely see a security update after that 😉
My XQ-FS72 is on July 1st security update

I keep the Google Play service constantly updated. Last night I also received the July one. But the Hong Kong version has no security updates, as confirmed by Sony Hong Kong itself, xperifirm, xperiroom, xpericeck, and the Reddit community with dozens of XQ-FS72 owners. It's still with the first release with which the phone was released. 71.0.A.2.22

Google Play is updated yesterday with July 1. But security update still is June 1.
I have the Japanese Xperia version XQ-FS44.
