Goodbye snif snif... had a good 12 year-run w/ and ... all things change... if the Xperia arc and ray are a sign of things to come, then I look forward to the new Sony models. I don't expect them to keep the name, consolidation of will begin in 2012.
But I am now looking at the other Android offerings... perhaps Motorola...

For me it´s really, really sad too, when i got a T300 i fell in love with the brand, now, the brand it´s over, no more brand-loyalty, so?, now what?, suggestions? explore another brand? wait for the mid 2012 for a good Sony phone? |

RIP Sony Ericsson
It has been a blast, I won't forget my first SE phone the classic T610 which was breath of fresh air coming from Nokia and it worked with lots of features to my last, the W980 which still have today.
I also enjoyed the short lived SE store in Kensington, trying out all the new phones and the special meet ups arranged on Esato good times proby.
Cheers,

Big assumption mate. They are not as agile as you might think - EVERYTHING goes through Sony Management of that respective division and for / products, Sony top management. Just look at the time it took to bring the Sony tablet.
I know Japanese people who worked at Sony Ericsson. They used to love it there for many reasons (pay being one) but one was that they thought things moved much faster at SE. This amused others who thought that Sony Ericsson was terribly slow but it said a lot that the Japanese people thought that in comparison to Sony, SE moved quickly...

Finally it`s fact... it will be interesting 2012, but I`m not optimistic. Let`s hope Sony will prove me wrong!
I`ll miss you ... and I`ll always hope to see you making phones once again. |

I am very sad about this news. I wonder if Sony will cancel Nozomi.

I will be interesting how Sony will handle unlocking bootloaders and stuff like that. The openness was all ericsson. |

@aka Dus
At the same time, won't it be one less set of management approvals to go through?

As sad as I find this, I suppose it was either this or Sony Ericsson disappear completely.
Still just so gutting though goodbye

@goldenface: not really, there was no formal Sony level approval of SE handsets. It was an independent autonomous company. Of course in reality, certain Sony people on a 2 or 3 year secondment in SE would be talking a lot with Tokyo/Berlin and their input into SE activities would obviously be heavily influenced by Sony thinking but the SE processes involved in designing and bringing a product to market were theirs alone.
@adsada: 1.9% market share said that you are right - change or die.
