If its just an assumption that T9 is faster, the difference can't be noticeable really...?

I don't use T9 (no Hungarian version), so I haven't tested it.
The scroll is much faster, BTW. |

Ok!
I'm new at this forum. Now I've spent on hour reading through this topic. First of all I would like to thank Deadman for the work of taking all this pictures. I feel sorry for him, everyone is complaining and bragging about that he might have been editing the T68 so it may look like the T68i. But, hey, listen; it can't be fake, look at the shadowing and the nice reflecting lights from the display. Second of all, look at all the menues, new stuff!
And I would like to thank apaman for putting the pictures up on his website. apan: By the way, take a look at the new article on www.itavisen.no (norwegian site), they have put up a link to your site from there, I would have been proud
Now over to something else;
I'm really dissapointed of Ericsson. I recently bought a brand new T68 for a lot of money. Now they will release a new one, just with more memory and software. I feel BAD that Ericsson could do something like this.
First of all I doubt that the software upgrade for the T68 that will come i March will cover all the new things that will appear on the T68i. Look; T68i will have a lot of the games, functions, better display, better colors, MMS and you can have 56 background pictures which can be deleted and probably replaced by a picture of your own. Think; this will take up a lot of space, and I don't think T68 will have this space. So I think that in the new upgrade for our T68 (March) we will get the MMS as promised and some new functions that doesn't steal so much memory.
A guy in this thread sayd that the we'll get more memory just by upgrading the software, this sound very strange. How can that even work? It's just not logical, it has to be hardware-upgrade -- this is my opinion. And that should be a tricky move to fix. And expense, and therefore not for free. I personally don't like eletronic stuff that's it opend and fixed, eather software og hardware. That's me:) But that's another discussion.
What i believe is that the T68i will start at the bottom and the number-rankings when talking about software. As seen on the pictures from Deadman you see that the T68i has started a "new round" on R1A -- like this; new phone, new round. And the T68 that we have, will be upgraded to R3A or something (since we have R2A now). Therefore I believe that the software that is on the T68i can't be the same as the T68 upgrade in March, since it's not the same name. Well, this is only speculations from me and some loud thinking.
If this is the thruth, I'm VERY, VERY dissapointed at Ericsson. Making a phone on the betastage just to be the first MMS and colordisplay phone on the market. Selling a lot of T68's and then releasing T68i with a lot of memory and features. So we'll be "forced" to buy a new phone -- for the cellphone freaks who wants 56 background to choose one. Which I REALLY want. Again, I think it's imposible to just "make" more memory in a phone, and I believe this is hardware related. There's no "memaker" for Ericssonmobiles.
The display on T68i seems much clearer to me, and the colors are better made. This is hardware related and can not be fixed.
I've been betatester for Nokia now in 5-6 years. Byuing their damn phones with all the bugs, and then upgrading the damn software. I really don't want Ericsson to be in the same lame category as Ericsson, and I really hope they have a very nice solution for us T68 owners.
I'm not sure I like the shell on the T68i though. The T68 is more proffesional looking. It'll be a difficult operation to change the shell from the T68 to a T68i.
Now, we'll just have to see what happens next. And I hope my dissapointment will dissapear very soon.
To all you other users, please share knowledge and thoughts of what I've written.
Regards dissapointed Norwegian guy. |

What do people expectof Ericcson? Be at the cutting edge with regular upgrades or just release every year so as not to offend past purchasers. You can't have it both ways.
The free sw upgrades are a bonus that I never expected anyway.. |

I don’t know why everyone is assuming that the T68i has more memory. Personally I think it would be suicide for a company to release two very similar phones with different hardware, it doesn’t make sense financially.
At the end of the day, your not going to know how much memory your T68 has until we get the firmware upgrade with the memory management stuff. Until then I don’t see the point of debating it.
Give Ericsson some credit before jumping the gun!

So why do you even think they bother to make the new phone? |

Its been stated by Sonyericsson that the mms-software we get is called R1A.
Not R3A or anything like that.
The software should be exactly the same as the one in T68i.
Personally I think its very bad marketing by Sonyericsson, IF they release this new improved phone now.
It would be ok to release it in, let say, 6-7 months,..but not now.
People just bought a beautiful T68m, paid a lot of money for it,..so I hope that will wait.
A very good example of this "face-lifting" is the car-industri,..one company did these small "face-lifts" almost every 3-6 months, and people got furious about it,..and their sales dropped.
Another thing is "pricing",..what happens when a new model hits the street ?
RIGHT,..the old one drops in price.
I have to admit, that I dont like the T68i, the design is just not right, looks boring/dull,..no curves anymore.
I dont fancy an off-white phone, and the blue-metallic looks cheap.
Looks like a plastic-phone to me,..it simply doesnt have the style of the T-68m.
Thats my opinion.
I'll get the mms-upgrade when it arrives, and I'll keep my T-68m,..and I bet that I can live with maybe a smaller memory, hehe.
