Just started playing TurboFly3D on my X10 which is pretty good. I think that would work better with the accelerometer and not actual keys.
Although I think Raging Thunder 2 / Asphalt 6 would be better with the analogue pads, after you get used to them.

I find it very hard to steer a car in racing games with accelerometer

I don't find it too bad, although I'll have to see if the Play is better. Using the shoulder buttons looks like a good option though. I really can't wait to try it out.

They say the screen is bad, and have quite a bit of negativity about it!
@goldenface,
do let us know how it is!

He does that video review terribly. He shows half the phone cut off from view under daylight from a window And he probably forgot the brightness setting. Will there be plenty of free games too??

Must say, the XPERIA Play has realy grown on me, i realy like it, but why doesnt it have HD video or HDMI??? Playing those PS Suite games via HDMI on a HD ready Bravia 32" or larger would be awesome!

True, i think its going to be quite a niche product, realy is for people who love mobile gaming, those PS games will be fun to play on this though, hopefuly Driver, Driver2, Gran Tourismo, Gran Tourismo2 and GTA2 will be available in PS Suite, i loved those on PS1, they already said Syphon Filter would be available which already got me excited took me back to when i was 9yrsld when i got my PS1, good times

Unfortunately, what engadget writes about the screen in bright environments is true. It is almost impossible to see anything on the screen in bright light. No playing on the beach, I'm afraid

There was a guy on the biggest android forum here in Sweden who worked for SE. He said that the initial plan was to price play around 400euro which seems fair. They seem to have cut a lot of corners hardware wise; camera, screen etc to make it cheaper. But now they have priced it higher than arc!?
In my opinion the only way to make this a success is to sell it cheap. Also it is good to build up a large userbase, they can make money on the games they sell later.
Im afraid this is gonna be a huge letdown for SE |

I spent all yesterday with the PLAY at Platform Expos, had two units and the displays were great. The level I like my X10 on (that works fine outdoors) is quite a bit dimmer than the PLAYs we're capable of.
Admittedly, next to the arc they look dull. Then again next to the arc the sun looks dull!
Engadget also said it has 400MB RAM, it's certain it's 512MB, also sure I saw that it's dual channel DDR2. Anyway, it runs a treat. Both units spent 9-5 being demoed and played with, and both worked exactly how they should all day, with very little time to recharge the batteries between people coming to look at them, they were down to 9 and 11% when we left.
The only thing that FC was FIFA10, and that didn't seem to be a final version, it had on screen controls and told you to press A and B buttons etc.
Flicking back and forth between gaming and phone usage is really seamless, a coupld of second delay in reloading, but dropping out of a game to the phone doesn't result in any lag, you're straight back as if you had never left.

The X10 screen is great in direct sunlight even.
The Arc camera and screen compared to the X10, and any other high end phone for that matter, are really only very minor improvements in the grand scheme of things .
I didn't really think I'd be gaining much that I couldn't already do with the X10 which is 'thereabouts' as good as it gets for mobile imaging.
The Play gives me 'more' to do for a change. Why argue about which phone has the 'best of a bad lot' camera when until they really launch a big mobile sensor, there is really not that much worth bickering about. As for 10 mm, 9mm, 8.7mm, 7mm thin. So what!
For Android fans, what really is there to distinguish one phone from the next? Apart from the joy of pissing all over your best mate on multiplayer games with a gamepad

Pocketnow done a little review of the phone and they mention it has a plastic screen. Is this true or not? |
