No? You mentioned Bluetooth and comparing it with Apple's UI innovations. Not the same thing when one maker produces a standard and invites this to be shared and when another maker adds innovations to their own products as competetive advantage and other makers 'borrowing' this technology.
, but me not wanting to get into yet another boring discussion about Apple vs Android vs Symbian vs whatever else.
But you're inviting these 'boring discussions' yourself with the comments you make.
Especially with people such as yourself who only appear to think that the OS they prefer is worthwhile and the rest are a waste of time.
Paranoia on your part I'd say since I didn't say anything as such. I was merely accepting your invitation for 'boring discussion' when you used the word 'shallow' to describe the iPhone UI while apparently ignoring that Nokia is busy 'borrowing' features from this UI! I am sure I'm not the only one seeing the irony in this.
You cannot have a discussion with ignorant people.
I do agree!
I like them all you see, whereas you dont and can only see the good in your chosen OS.
So if I don't agree with your negative remarks about the iPhone UI then I am anti-Nokia? This to me says a lot about what kind of person you are...
Like i said, the better question is which features and innovations we've grown accustom to in the present day lack on the iPhone OS ? the answer is much.
I do actually agree. I was hoping that the N8 would be more. There are a lot of weaknesses in the iPhone but where it is strong unfortunately are where other phones are the weakest. My favorite feature in the iPhone: the iPod player and how it handles all media and especially supports resume on larger files (podcasts, videos and audiobooks). Yet again has Nokia produced a phone which is a disappointment to me. A couple of visits to Nokia's discussions site have confirmed that the N8 is more of the same - with an amazing camera.
Its funny how as soon as people illustrate how infuriated they can be by Apple's basic entry level smartphone OS and its major shortcommings you suddenly jump on them to counter what they say. You cannot do that, its their opinion.
You called the iPhone UI shallow. I countered that Nokia is busy copying the very same feautures that makes the UI shallow.
I prefer a true smartphone OS even with its less pretty user interface, whereas you obviously like shallow operating systems that look smart but are really quite dumb. No ?
I prefer a smartphone OS which can be counted on to be around for the foreseeable future and which is of interest to the software developers. Symbian against Android and OS X? I advise against buying stocks in Nokia...

I think the N8 soon will have a competitor due to the launch of the X12 in Q1 2011. 12mp camera and 720p vid.

GSMarena says 720p. And 1080p is quite useless. You can probably not get that good quality with it and the filesize is at 2 times bigger.

I think we will only see 1080p with the dual core ARM A9-Cortex CPUs late next year, most A8s and Snapdragons can only do upto 720p. At this point most phones that do HD720p video tend to drop frames a lot, from what ive seen, the Samsung Galaxy-S must be the only smartphone at thd moment that can do 720p very well in all conditions.

@ AbuBasim - your latest post is a perfect example of your attitude towards other people who may say negative remarks about your beloved iPhone. Get over it, grow up, accept some people dont think its as good as you do. Your ultra long nit picking of my posts is ridiculous and immature. Like i said, im bored of talking to ignorant people. You just seem unable to understand an unbiased adults point of view. Oh dear !
@ TTT - to be honest, i dont really rate the 720p video from ANY phone at the moment. They all still only look like they were taken with a none dedicated video camera imo. I dont doubt phones like the N8, iPhone 4, HTC Desire which all capture 720p video is very good but when compared to a proper HD handycam they're pixelated, have low frame rate and terrible audio. I still dont think the N8 captures stereo audio as good as my old N93 from 2006 - now that phone captured proper stereo audio.
I dont think the X12 will be a competitor at all, clearly its not meant to be mostly camera orientated otherwise SE as always would give it a lens cover and Xenon flash. I think SE are just updating the X10 by rehashing it as the X12 to bring it out of obsoletion.

Everywhere I go the N8 is sold out!! Some shops couldn't even dedicate a handset for display and probing!
I wont order one before getting to check all colors first hand!
I'm thinking to try one of the vivid colors, Orange, Green, and Blue.. Time to make a change from the typical Silver and Black.. Although those two aren't very typical on the N8 either..
Any feedbacks maybe?
Which do you find more appealing of those three colors for the ones got the chance to view them all?? |

@etaab,
You are indeed an odd character. You make negative remarks about other phones but don't accept retorts to your remarks?
And no one must say anything bad about Nokia? This site is not an Internet forum but a soapbox for you to stand on to announce to the world your love for Nokia and your dislike for other brands?
According to you, the same features that make the iPhone shallow do not also make the Symbian^3 equally shallow, the features Nokia 'borrowed' from Apple?

Hmm... After my negative comments about the UI and the phone being a disappointment as it doesn't deliver as a replacement for my iPhone 3GS I may end up buying one anyway. This shot by cu015170 is amazing:

I really cannot believe you still do not understand why im not able to use an iPhone yet. Its not because of the features the phone does have, its the ones it does not.
The complete lack of a proper Bluetooth file transfer profile renders everything Apple have released since 2007 not possible for me to own.
I dont really have anything against the iOS, its just what it lacks that stops me thinking and agreeing with you on its place in the food chain. For some people the iPhone 4 is near damn perfect, for me its far from it. I havent used a dedicated digital camera since the K750i came out in 2005. Since owning a Satio with Xenon flash, i couldnt go back to the rather poor iPhone 4 LED.
I just get annoyed with people claiming how great iPhones are, yet they're so basic. Yes they have great innovative features that other companies like Nokia have implemented in their device. But that is what makes phones like the N8 better imo. They have their own depth of technology and add in other functions that some companies use as their main features.
@ false_morel - Ive seen every colour, my favourite is the orange which i own simply because its different and i doubt ill see another person with it. Ive seen several N8 owners in the street this past 2 weeks since mine was being replaced. They were all black or silver. Im glad mine is unique - a bit !

Email set to soonest, and due to Facebook and Twitter i get a lot of it.
Had music playing for around 2.5hours
Web browsing on and off constantly either on EDGE or on HSDPA (signal really is patchy where i am).
Being on Facebook, Whatsapp (IM) and Twitter
and then also watching a few videos downloaded from YouTube, had to transfer them from my X10 as i cant find a YT downloader for the N8.
EDIT: Some calls and SMS to, didnt have much today though, as im not upto anything today/tonight.
