Sony Ericsson X10 debranding tutorial |

Many thanks for posting the x10a firmware. I realize it's not the .16 baseband, but I swear the phone feels more responsive without any of the Rogers stuff on it. Now that it's debranded, should I be able to just plug into PC Companion and wait for the next update without having to reset the whole device every time? I get why I have to do it, but not having to would be really nice especially with downloading and setting up apps all the time.

Same with other people. I tried to go back to Rogers (in case of any warranty issues or whatnot) firmware and it just said to check my internet settings.. |

Read through the thread, but is still a bit unsecured if I got this correct.
If I have a Swedish X10 branded and sim locked to operator 3 and flash it with the generic UK firmware.
Will I be able to use the X10 with any sim card then?
, or is it only unbranded, but still sim locked to 3?
Regards/

hey Lollylost100,
Is it safe to say that once we have debranded, we can't go back to the original branded firmware? I did backup the original two files that I replaced when we did the initial setup. The problem with trying to go back is that when the SE PC Companion goes and tries to update, it checks with the servers first and does not see the same firmware, it would give an error?

debranding and unlocking are two different things. By debranding to the UK firmware, you will remove any of the carrier branded software and modifications to the OS. Your x10 will still be locked to 3 though until you've unlocked it.

i'm actually thinking if the firmware that we have on our phone is available to public ie seus. then seus will compare the files that's on ur computer with the file size of their's and if it's the same then it'll update? that's what i think.. but seeing our firmware technically ain't available yet coz technically the generic uk and generic north american files ain't available to public yet? coz i don't think north america or uk have unbranded x10s for sale yet in the respective countries. coz technically these files are obtained from EMMA and emma and seus are different servers? |

so i did everything lollyhost100 mentioned, but i used sony update service, first i reinstalled the firmware, and then i copied my rogers backup files into this folder
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\db\\13740270\\blob_fs
make sure u rename the files like lollyhost100 suggested, and after that i reinstalled firmware, and it was back with rogers |

I tried that but it won't give me a button to repair. That's the thing. It's not letting me the option to reinstall the firmware. |
