LelOuch: Do you live under a rock or what?

All electronic products today exists of parts that the brands like SE buy and then put together. This is the same for all brands and they buy screens, keypads, roms, processors, cam modules, screws, memory, chassies from other manufactures that are specified to the task.. Itīs like a LEGO

This is the same for all things in the world from aeroplanes, blenders, tv:s, stereos, cars........

I dont care who has made my cam module as long as it takes good pics

Recl: well itīs the thinnest phone with xenon flash. Larger screen than c902, really nice buttons, fast ui. It suits me best as i only take photos, send sms and calls with my phone.

The photos look grand, but sadly-the phone doesn't. (please take this as a personal opinion)

Yeah nothing else special. But not everybody wants a mobile with GPS, wifi etc.. Some people don't need to be able to go on the web every minutes, watch movies, or just think this is very uncomfortable on those tiny screens... BTW all those functions tend to shorten battery life considerably. So what should we do ? Make a bigger screen, so the phone will need even more power and will become bigger too ?
Then, either you pack a bigger battery which will make the phone heavier and once again bigger, or you just stay with the same battery and the phone will have a ridiculously battery life ?

As you can see, for the moment, it's not possible to make one single phone that gathers all the advantages of each type of phones.

The C901 is most probably a
- good phone
- good camera phone
- good 'walkman' phone
- very thin
- well built
- intuitive
It doesn't do a ton of fancy stuff, but (at first sight anyway) the few things it can do, it does it well. To my mind it's already a lot..

The same thing can be said about the UI of SE by the way.. Yes it's not customizable like some open OS UI, yes this is almost the same old thing since a couple of years.. but it's pretty intuitive, fast, complete (after all), and quite bugs free.

Sorry to pop all of your Samsung bubbles, but the sensor is not Samsung and is not biuld by Samsung Tech. Keep guessing and have fun with the pics. It is the best out there and just enjoy the camera.

You seem to hint that you know. So what's stopping you from sharing this with us? My guess: a lot of fanbois will not be pleased.

These C901 pics look very much like Pixon12 pics from GSMArena (apart from the resolution):

So it probably is a Samsung sensor unless you can prove otherwise...

And that's so sad, don't you think?

Theory 1:
There is some friction between Sony and Sony Ericsson. While Sony makes really good digital cameras, they intentionally cripple Sony Ericsson camera phones by delivering inferior camera sensors, out of fear that their digicam sales will get hurt otherwise. Because of this Sony Ericsson do sometimes choose third-party sensors - with the result that photo quality goes up! One indication of the friction: Sony has until now refused to grant the PSP license to Sony Ericsson but seem now to be forced to do so due to the iPhone 3GS gobbling up mobile gaming marketshare.

Theory 2:
The C901 does actually have a larger Exmor 8MP sensor but the camera downsamples the photos to 5MP - hence the need for less noise reduction! Sony Ericsson do not want this to be known - otherwise C901 owners will start demanding 8 MP photos. Manufacturers have done similar things before. One example: Asus' P750 QVGA WM6 phone actually has a VGA display but the driver scales up the QVGA framebuffer to 2x2 for each pixel. Some hackers have succeeded in getting the display to show full VGA resolution.

Theory 3:
Gozila is just some snotty teenaged fanboi trying to act important but in fact does not have a clue what camera chip the C901 has! The C901 has a Samsung sensor.
