To Sony Ericsson Development Team if you read this,

Before bloody bugging off and 'giving up' your UIQ, I suggest you buy a goddamn Flash container license from Adobe for P1i, then please scram off, it's a shame you leave undone works to your 'fans' (ie. Gary, SWMail, russians, non-SE people, etc.) anyway. Those are the people who make UIQ so wonderful, and NOT really SE!

Regards.

Nokia was smart to take controle of symbian. This way they'll have the symbian platform for theirselves for atleast a year. And a future advantage when symbian becomes fully open standard.
SE should've kept UIQ alive, it had the potential of becomming the futures platform for mobile devices.
I will buy myself a P1 next month, and advize all the people i know to buy 1 of the 6 current UIQ devices. Thats all i can do. If SE doesn't change their mind. Then i think android will become the next best thing.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

I have been very reliably informed that Nokia plan to dump Symbian! and will be moving to a different OS soon.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

thatīs my opinion too...

My next device will be the Nokia 5800, I hate to have to say it!!! but seems Nokia are developing some nice stuff at the moment, their N97 is what the X1 should have been

I'm soooo happy X1 is not what N97 is!!
Starting from it's terrible, plastic look...

I used to moan about manufacturers not using metal in preference to plastics. BUT my W960 has bounced away from countless droppings without a mark my P1 was marked forever after just one drop!

I now know Metal is NOT the way to go for mobile phone cases Carbon Fibre maybe but metal no my mates iPhone now looks horrible where it has been dropped just a few times.

It is a shame but the only phones I currently have any interest in are Nokia, in my opinion Sony Ericsson have totally lost the plot WM is old and out of date and they are reduced to using another manufacturer for their handsets that alone tells me they no longer want to innovate and that WAS their one advantage over Nokia.

Well said. We'll see what 2009 will bring us in terms of OS utilization. I hope there will be some kind of UIQ successor rising.

I can now tell you that the N900 runs the Nokia high end device OS of the future Maemo 5 "Linux" Hurray about time too S60v5 is fine for my 5800XM but was always going to struggle in the N97. Now IF are smart and adopt Maemo 5 as well they MIGHT JUST have a route to regaining their lead as an innovator.
