Just to share. I recently bought a P1i and and noticed the green tint on the camera. After a week, the camera bogged down and would not load no matter how I tried to turn on/off the phone and do several master resets. Frustrated, I brought my unit to the shop where I bought it and demand for a replacement. They told me that they will try to repair my phone by replacing the camera module, but I insisted on a replacement. I was told to come back after a few days since they do not have new stock of P1i. When I get back after a few days, the shop personnel gave me the replacement unit and showed me my repaired phone. I tried to compare the cameras and was surprised that the green tint on my repaired phone was reduced to almost unnoticeable. I asked the shop personnel to bring out another brand new unit and both brand new units have the annoying green tint. So I decided to get my repaired phone instead and I'm now happy with it. Now, could that be the problem? the camera module? Well I suggest SE must start recalling their P1i's. |

If you say that you tested both and thats a new unit and a fairly new one - I mean 4 months after production start - then this is bad...
But here is my story: I downgraded my Firmware to the first one RFD23 or something like that (no time to browse for the correct name mind you)
So anyways I took some pictures today to test the green tint thingy and there is none - on auto white balance...This is where the problem occurred previously.
So there is a great possibility that they screwed up something in the Firmware
with 30 and 41
Who knows - but the fact is - where the green tint occurred before, in my room and outside identical lightning, there is nothing to be seen with the first firmware
So if you have the nerve try it out - or if someone has bought a new one with that firmware let us know...
I will probably get a new one soon and will see if there is a difference

That's why I want to wait for the new FW before I get camera replaced. I'm sure that last FW made it worse.

I can now definitely say that its a Firmware problem...
I tested it before with my R9J005 P1i and the tint was there but slightly and not always, then I had to downgrade it to the first firmware (for some reason...) and the tint was gone...
Now I tested it with a R6E30 Phone and the Tint is there and all pictures
its ugly I tell you
And there is definitely something wrong with the Firmware so start those angry emails coming or they will never get rid of it! |

...it probably would go away completely if you sent the phone in and got a new camera, though.

Yeah probably but thats the second p1i and its pain to wait for weeks for them to replace it - will see how that goes after a firmware update...
+ I was really surprised that with the first Firmware the tint was gone so it must be a firmware problem

Maybe.. if you have over some level of noise on the camera, the auto colour- correction doesn't work well? I've been wondering if that's the problem I have - there's no tint now, like on the e30 firmware, only a grey spot when the light is low. But the colours go off into blue or yellow sometimes, for some reason.

Where do you get the old firmware? Are there also available procedures or instruction on how to change your firmware? |

Although the P1i has the green tint problem on what seems to be most units it looks to me like this has lead to people believing the overall images by the camera aren't up to scratch either. So, for comparison how does results from the P1i camera compare to say the k750 / k800?

I guess for those of us who will buy the P1 outside of the UK we will be forever stuck with the green tint. I am buying my phone online for use in Jamaica. So I unless a firmware update fix this, then I'm stuck. Sadly I don't have o2 at my disposal.

I'm really satisfied with the pictures of my P1, even with the green tint. Coming from a K800, it's harder to take good shots because you musn't move the phone at all during the shot
But, just to know, is there a simple way to remove that green tint on the PC using the gimp software? By adding a filter for example? |

I'm sure you could make manual filter as long as the software supports that (I've not used gimp before)
So, how do photos compare from k800 to p1 (not including bestpic, shake control - just the overall picture quality) |
