yep, made the switch. TyTN II is numero uno now
yeah, I had the TyTN, and the k-jam, and the Jam, and the JasJar and... well.. anyway... The TyTN II feels like a more refined/finished product and definitly the mm they have shaved off to make it thinner makes a noticeable difference. The slide out keyboard is as good to type on as the original TyTN but they have rearranged the front buttons so they are all around the d-pad (previously internet and email were at the top). The camera is a little better for its increased resolution but still missing things like macro (although the autofocus does a reasonable job). They also removed the IR port.
I browse extensively in the morning and evening on the train to/from work and I've also noticed that it holds a 3g/hsdpa data connection much better than the P1.
The GPS is heaps better than the one in the N95 that I had and outdoors, locks take seconds only, and indoors no more than 40 seconds.
as I've mentioned before though, the battery is the one down point. Its the same capacity as the original TyTN (1350mAh) but lasts probably 20% less.
I just played briefly with the Softbank X01HT today - the TyTN 1; I'm flaborgasted! Damn son its just wicked! And to my surprise its the SAME thickness WITHOUT the HUMP of my K790a SE phone. Same height as well. Not too wide. WOW the things that it can do.
I'll be hunting for the TYTN 1 threads here to learn more .... I just may get that as well. with Mobile Pro and 6-16-32GB MicroSDHC cards coming .... no NEED for a laptop unless major drawing, cad drawings, coding. I do niether but LOVE that WiFi! Didn't know what I was missing.
Still getting the SE K850i though but NOW I also want this.
How did you guys find carrying the TYTN in front jeans pocket? Was it as confortable as a phone, and was anyone selfconcious?
Cheers guys.

mate, so you got a softbank X01HT, how do you feel? i missed the earlier release Dopod 838Pro A.K.A HTC Hermes due to high volume selling! and ran out of stock for some time, before switching to the P990 oh well not a great move, anyway, i had been through lots of mobile phones since, including the ATOM life, but when someone offers me the softbank last nite, my mind running wild again! and here, you are having one
how does it feel??? tell me mate! i am so excited |

T-Mobile will be selling the TYTN II as the MDA Vario III as of friday. It will be free on Flext 50, or for £99.99 on Flext 35. Customers can get a £30 discount on the handset if they sign up to web'n'walk.

I would also like to hear how it is to have the TytnII in a jeans pocket...? |

I think I've already said in this thread that I am comfortable with the TyTN II in my trouser pocket, which I wasn't with the original.
Mind you, I don't wear jeans so I'm talking suit trousers or chino type trousers. Jeans might be a risk being a bit tight usually and also for the metal bits when getting it in and out of the pockets

Hi!
I will get a good memory card for the TyTn II but are there any other, " need fairly soon " accessories that you would recommend?
I read that the screen protector bubbles too easily when applied...
and applications ! TCPMP ! Is it still recommended? Not sure what files I would need and can see the site here

actually I tried tcpmp but it complained that it needed a codec to play the videos I used to play with it which has been removed due to some licencing problem.
Windows media player plays them fine though so no worries
Resco file explorer is still a good buy and it comes with a registry editor which is useful for tweaking a few things.
I've never used screen protectors so can't comment.
I did buy a mini-usb to 3.5mm adaptor as the HTC supplied headsets, which connect via the mini-usb port, have never been too great. They're a few pounds on ebay

Hi masseur!
thanks for your reply ! Ordered today with a 6gig card!
I don't use E-Bay ...... but can see an adaptor with microphone at Cloves site! Now ordered....
I will check out Resco file explorer this evening !
Would I need the regeditor to do this ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\HTC\\Camera\\Image
Change the value named "EnableEncodePortrait" to 0 and the images will be saved "unrotated".
Or can I do that without extra software?
