in that, your point is p990 is the end of the line for such devices? cos' i can only see p1 as being a replacement for the m600. the reason why SE would include a 3.2 mp camera with it is not cos' it should have better specs than the p990, therefore suceeding it. rather i think it's cos' of market dissatisfaction regarding the lack of camera in m600. also, 3.2mp seems the reasonable resolution given current market demands. so p1 in essence is just an m600 with tweaks.

The P1 isn't a replacement for the P990. Nor is it, the P990s successor in the same way as when the M600 was announced it wasn't the successor or replacement for the P910i.
It is just a new phone, which happens to have a more in common with the M600 so if it was to "replace" any it would be the ageing M600 not the 6 month old P990!!
But that is just my opinion and i will not be provoked into arguing about it some may agree and some will definitely disagree, either way i will still be a happy chappy!

I'll say no more on the whole P1/P990 controversy except this - the idea that this is a replacement for the M600 is false, because a true replacement for the M600 wouldn't have a camera. The M600 was a relatively cheap messaging-oriented phone directed at the corporate market where the lack of camera would be a selling point; a premium phone with a whopping great 3.2mp camera on the back is no replacement for that at all!
It's also got far more in common with the P990 as far as the specs go. Aside from the camera it's also got Wifi, breaching the other dividing line between the M600 and P990 to date, and making it much more of a flagship-standard model. The only real link to the M600 is the form factor, but given that this is obviously a P series phone with a P series designation, it's obvious that the form factor is now every bit as "P" as it is "M".

I'll say no more on the whole P1/P990 controversy except this: The P990i's replacement WILL have higher specs than the P990, not just a different keypad with no flip, and a slightly improved camera!

This announcement is getting really exciting because if the "T650" is really true, then it's like three series (S, P, and T) that were pronnounced dead were all coming alive again. Ok...so the S isn't coming back as a Swivel which I really hope seeing again(the still unknown w970 is really gorgeous) but as a Slider. |

yep, so a lot of people will be happy with the P1 and the new T phone
and a lot of people will be disappointed with the lack of 5MP cybershot phone(s)
the positive way of seeing this is that we know the next major announcement has to be about the cybershot phone |

when, after a plethora of fake dates, and random internet ass kissing, i couldnt care less now, im disgusted with SE f**k em, they took way too long and have tested my patience. who else is buying this phone other than the ppl that explicitly want it, AND have asked for SOMETHING!!! really i know it doesnt make you a ton of money but really give me a nice tidbit about what to expect ... |
