@Boba,
My N93 may be big but there is nothing wrong with it's build quality at all and it's 8 months old now. No creaks the swivel hinge is still perfect no complaints about how it looks and feels even after this amount of time. Actually i just bought some new headphones and another 2gb card. As unless i decide to get an E90 i can see myself still using this for the foreseeable future.

Hi Dicky Snapples,
Sorry to hear you didn't like or get on with the N95 but it was always a non starter for me as am not a fan of sliders and really didn't feel it offered that much more than my N93. I already have a Sat Nav solution on it and just prefer it's form factor and 3x optical zoom over an extra 2 MegaPixels.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it just not enough difference to make it a worthwhile upgrade for me IMHO.

I dont think those who really have hold a N95 in their hands can honestly dismiss the quality as bad.
N95 build material is of high quality and construction is excellent with every parts fitting perfectly. There is no creak and the whole phone feel solid (i.e no hollow sound anywhere). And the plastic used is of better look/feel than those found in m600/p900.
The only movable part - the slide - feels solid and no wobble. The slide is spring assisted and once it slides to open position it is locked securely in position (no movement at all). Even the camera construction feels more solid the K800 camera slide.

@mib1800
no plastic on the n95? you sure? i was almost certain the front plastic, no? and isnt the back some sort of plastic rubber.....?
well your phone is new, of course there is no creaks. wait a couple of weeks, then report back about creaks, build etc.....
all my phones feel great when new, whether its , nokia or samsung, then couple weeks later, i find creaks, mainly from the batter cover.....
im looking into getting an n95, though im not sure if i can justify spending $1200aud on a phone.... maybe when price drops a little, that could be a while though.....

The GPS of N95 and E60 is using quite oldfashioned SirfStar II instead of SirfStarIII http://my-symbian.com/s60v3/review_n95.php
The SirfII is not so sensitive as SirfIII. Some troubles can happen near buildings etc with that SirfII. Also in navigating with cars it maybe too lazy. But what is the reality with smart2go+SirfII combination? |

@jedi-master
Did I say "no plastic"? I am saying the casing dont look plastic. The battery cover is very well secure and tight so I think it will last (unless you fiddle with it everyday). The rest of the phone is just very solid even the slide mechanism.
btw. I bought the N95 in singapore at SGD1148 (incl. 5% tax) which is about AUD930. It is SIM-free price. I think it is quite reasonable price at this early product cycle. It should drop SGD200-400 in about 2-3months (or maybe not if the phone is HOT). For me it is worth every penny because phone has exceeded my expectation (i.e. stable, great camera/video/music, fast, the most advanced features and a good battery life). And I dont want to wait 2-3 months to get my hands on it.

my N95 never have a crash in the last 2 days. I believe it is due to the disable of the Phone Study software ( It's been disable without my knowledge ) Let see what will happen now as I have enable the software again. GPS is a bit slow to pick up the signal though! |

@ mib1800 ...
i have held the 'REAL' N95. it feels cheap and flimsy. not a solid build quality you'd expect from a high end nokia phone.
and if dicky is prepared to send his back due to the build quality doesn't this say something?
don't get me wrong i think the N95 is a brilliant device and have been pointing people towards getting it. functionality wise spot on but in my opinion when in your hands it feels cheap. big plastic panels here and there.
i hate the N80 but i think that felt more like its moneys worth, with a solid feel.
