New firmware for P990i out now! |

Well ive just upgraded my Generic World 2 version from the old Phone: R4B001, CDA: R2A01, etc version
And at present to be honest I havent really noticed any difference. My old version was stable enough and I never luckily experienced the 'rebooting to improve system performance' feature.
I shall see how things go over the coming weeks.

@bogdan1978buc regarding touch screen calibration (late response...)
Just go through the setup guide (don't know the english name, but it's found under Tools > Control panel > Other) and you'll be presented with a calibration screen. If you just press the jog dial, factory default calibration will be restored.

Are contact pics on the speed dial and some other places still blurred?
How about predictive text. What is the difference now?
What happens when a warning comes up about more than one sms going to be sent and you do not accept? Those messages are lost on my current FW.

It does take a while. I've just finished updating my device. It took me somewhere between 90 minutes to 2 hours for the entire process. |

Successfully updated to Phone: R9EA001, CDA162007/1 R4A13
I set the P990 to use Turkish, so the English versions - memory & speed - may be slightly different.
At initial boot with no applications installed, RAM 16.7 MB, initial boot time slightly better, menu items faster (took a while to speed up though?). FM radio (with RDS on) does not crash and the sound might be a little louder, can't be sure though.
Did a restore after update, unfortunately had to reinstall most of the applications. The backup message was OK, but the restore came back with some warnings about third party software.
All FM stations assigned previously lost, Wi-Fi settings restored properly.
Contacts restored, including pictures and ringtones.
Haven't had a crash yet or a kern-exec and the phone does feel faster. Memory management seems to be better, I average 10.7 MB through several hours of use so far. SM Pro will not auto-boot! Apparently programs need to be Symbian signed for execution at boot
Also it seems that unless your CDA is 162007/1 (Generic World 1), you may not be able to do a SEUS update...

I just finished my update. For those of you who wanted to turn off the dialog when you connect the phone with USB, it is possible. In the phone, just go to Control Panel>Connections>USB. Then uncheck "Display on connection." I suppose this should work; haven't tried it myself. I'm also sorry if that was already mentioned, but this thread is moving so fast I can't keep up.
By the way, I got 17.6 MB free RAM on startup with the phone before adding contacts, etc. I'm pretty pleased with it so far! |

No! SEUS needs Macromedia Flash Player to work! And after reinstalling XP, flash player won't work! And it's late now, so I haven't time to fix the problem. It's school tomorow, and I need to get high grades so I get a well payed job, so I can spend the moned on cellphones :P
Looking forward to update. Have herad much positive about the new FW. Faster navigating menus, faster opening videos, Opera Mobile is better etc. It sound like all the bugs are fixed!

After a bit of testing, I can confirm the benefits stated by the others.
I'm not quite sure if this is related to the new firmware, but fairly large Word documents (above 3 MB in size with lots of embedded images) which previously would either not open at all or open and then freeze with Documents to Go, can now be opened and scrolled around quite quickly. |

Been having a slight problem with message light (green light on top of phone) since I updated. It comes on for no reason and stays on until I reboot the phone. |

Hi there,
Now been at the ‘Updating Software’ showing 100% on the computer icon part of the screen for 2 hours is this normal?
How long has the update taken with others?
If this goes on all night do I just disconnect the phone from the computer in the morning?
Many thanks, Tim.

@tim-ann
this is not usual.
once the update loads the handset and it reaches 100% it should terminate the program in a few seconds. i think there is some problem with your updating...
what you can do is disconnect the handset and restart it to see if everything has gone fine...
even if it doesnt you dont have to worry as you can easily do a fresh update as all the data for updata has been downloaded in your pc |

It could be indicating that the phone is charging if you are connected with the USB cable.
