vodafone k750i here in switzerland are all sold with installed memory stick ... poeple don't like to read manuals first, and then use the toys .... |

My W800i came with a ScanDisk card as well and it was also installed in the phone from the factory. However, mine didn't have any songs on it at all. As far as I remember, it was completely empty except for the directory structure. |

They put the Memory Stick inside the phone because otherwise, some people would be stupid enough to try and put their SIM CARD in the MSD slot, and that could damage it...
ALL the k750 and w800 are shipped with the memory stick in the phone

Also, maybe the local dealer wanted to try the phone before he sold it?!! Dont think it would come from the factory that way

Same here, my memory stick was inside the phone (which is default as it appears) but mine was also a Sony, not Sandisk... and it was Empty.
I think it's kinda strange too that SONYericsson W800 ships with Sandisk-sticks and not a SONY ones.
Yes, they are cheaper and almost the same but it would be the same (kind of) as if Canon used Minolta-lenses in their digicams because they are cheaper than the ones Canon make themselves. |

ahh- but some people could be stupid enough to put the sim card in the ear-peice, thats what the instruction booklet is for! its a very good point but it still dosent seem 'Brand New'
So maybe it was like a demo phone where people would have ago on it but then it was sold...

All my W800i`s came with the Sandisk MemoryCard already inserted in the phone as well.
But there was no preinnstalled songs on them
