I think it basically comes down to the fact that Nokia phones are easier to use and have tended to be more pleasant on the eye. They have not been as feature packed as others which makes them easier to use.

My experiences with my younger cousins are that they go for something which they can customise, can text fast and simply from, are affordable, and have a variety of games on. One of the reasons that my younger girly cousin bought a new phone, in this case a 3310, was that it had more games that were more up-to-date.

I think it's poor marketing and crummy phines earlier. like the 788, that's what turned me to Nokia and siemens.

In my opinion Sony Ericsson pack alot more into their phones than Nokia so a few break downs are expected. But Nokia has so many software problems. I had my Nokia 7110 replaced 16 times in 2 years. It's an excellent shoe feature wish but the software was crap!

Give them time. They make better phones (generally because some of you have had problems) and they give better features - they are just new to the market as a company - Sony existed and Ericsson existed but neither of them were ever as good as Nokia.

I think SonyEricsson is better than Nokia in terms of products but they are just new to the market. They don't have marketing experience like Nokia does.

My conclusion: Give them time... Give them time and they will position themselves right.

It's all to do with marketing and Nokia has the image and the feature that the mass market want.

Tri-Band is good, but Nokia knew that mass market didn't need tri-band - they needed changeable covers! Polyphonic ringtones and downloadable games etc. are things consumers want. Bluetooth is still niche, it's cool but people would rather have something that they are likely to use and see everyday like ringtones and covers.

The T68i does not even come with a colour choice (not until the metallic grey later in 2002) let alone changeable covers.

Nokia will be producing loads of models next year, all based on the same technology like the 6100, 6610, 7210 all with compatible pop-port accesories and chargers (Communicams for T68i and T300 have to be different). These similiar Nokia phones are just packaged differently in a slightly different body, and they still have changeable covers!!

Sony Ericsson need to be more than just high tech innovators (they have traditionally been more technically rich than Nokia), they will have to focus on their marketing and consumer wants. Mass market phones that appeal to the masses and not just technophilies like us.

Nokia has always promoted their phones with glance, and Ericsson actually never (almost) promoted their products public...
Here in denmark the first commercial we saw was the t28 alien commercial. it dissapered and no more ericsson phones in tv.
people forgot and bought nokia course every where u looked u saw them promoting their phones, and it became a trend phone (3210,3310eg) i think personally SE will rise up from the dirt soon...just need some more public attention throught PR (tv,posters, and as nokia say: SOON U WILL BE ABLE TO SEND MUSIC TO UR PHONE) HEHE
---- lets face it nokia have been ex-treem good at their pr and ericsson has not, thats why their markedshare is that big----
Dont forget that nokia also have been nearly bankrup about 10 years ago and offered ericsson to buy...

Hi everybody, I work in Ericsson Mexico, and SE has always been critized for making conservative marketing strategies, that's one. Another one is that Nokia is everywhere, go see a movie and you'll see that the actors are holding Nokia phones!!! Also Nokia targets everybody for the businessmen it has a titanium covered phone, for the students a phone with different covers, etc.., eventhough hardware and software may be the same. So IMHO is a marketing thing.
Another one is unfortunately Ericsson made really bad phones before, at least here in Mexico when somebody says Ericsson they think of a bad phone that would break up very easily. I think however, that now with these new phones, people are going to buy more Ericsson and maybe a lot of people will appreciate them. Just my 2 cents.
