I ordered a W800i from the Carphone Warehouse website last night. Rang them this morning to check the status of my order only to be told that the phone is currently out of stock, (as if it was ever IN stock!).

I wouldn't have minded paying a premium to get the phone early, however I now think I'll leave it a few weeks and let the market settle down a bit. With any luck it'll drop to a more reasonable price.

The initial price is always high & I think it will soon drop upon wider availability

But do they actually have any? Sites often 'sell' things they don't have yet & u end up having to wait anyway AND pay a rediculous price

Had the SE rep come into work 2day, he said the W800 shouldn't be on sale anywhere on the highstreet until the 12th, and that although CPW have released a price of £299 for PAYG, he said it'll probably drop very quick to £249 as thats how much hmv and virgin (I think he said virgin anyway) will be selling it for.
He also thought that the w600 should be here by the end of the year and also a w520 and w900 sometime after, one of which should be able to do sum track editing or summit...but that probably belongs in with the rumours area:D
