I'm also having trouble with this pairing, I have a K750i with R1L002 and an HCB-300.
Basically it seems that when I voice dial, if it doesn't match anything the phone will crash - it goes to a white screen then black. I have to switch off, switch on again and try and get the two to pair up again.

This has been happening since I got the K750 and have been updating the software hoping this will go away.

The HCB-300 used to work perfectly with my T630, so it doesn't seem like there's a fault with that.

Anybody got any ideas what I could try? Any settings I might have wrong? If it matches then it works fine - the problem only occurs (it seems) if it can't match the name.

@Wingee
Sounds like a software issue to me. Make SE aware of it so that a countermeasure can be included in the next software release.

@paddle
I doubt there's anything wrong with the carkit mic.
It sounds like your carkit is not connected to your phone - the quiet, distant sounds the caller hears are being picked up by the mic in the phone.

I think it's the K750i that's having problem
on pairing to any bluetooth device with bugs
reported on the firmwares.

Hopefully they will do another firmware update
with a bugfree on a bluetooth issue.

Help

I have had a HCB-30 fitted in my car for a few years now. It operated ok with my T39m and brilliantly with my T630. I then moved to a K700i, which was intermittent at best.

I am now use a K700i for work calls and a K750i for personal stuff. But the HCB-30 behaves erratically.

So I am ready to ditch the HCB-30 – but what do I get: -

HCB-300 – looks ideal on paper, but I read lots of reliability and compatibility issues.

HCB-700 – Not on sale yet and I am very worried about buying bleeding edge SE kit.

Parrot CK-3100 – Looks ok, but I am worried about having to load a special version of software for the K750i – will this stop the K700i working correctly?

My K700i is on R2AN001 and my K750i (O2 version) R1L002.

Any help/experience would be gratefully received before I shell out £200+ on having a new kit fitted.

Welcome to esato!

I have a K700i with R2AE033 which works with HCB-300, no problems at all.

Before giving the HCB-30 the heave-ho, why not see if there is a software upgrade for it? Your nearest SE authorised service centre should be able to help you out.

Thanks for the comment.

Do you mean an upgrade for the HCB-30 or the K750i?

I have looked around and can't find any info on a firmware upgrade for the HCB-30

I mean an upgrade for the HCB-30.

Changes have been made to the B/T profiles of SE phones since K700i, due to the high battery usage associated with 65K and 262K colour screens. As you are aware, those changes may cause connection problems.

If there is a software upgrade for your HCB-30 to make it more reliable with the K7XX's, that would be a cheaper and easier option than upgrading to a new carkit which may/may not have the same connection issues.

I have been looking further into the new HCB-700 and have just discovered the dimensions of the units.

Display Unit - 88 x 54 x 14mm
Control Unit - 54mm diameter x 40mm

That control unit is huge - bigger than the knob on my gear stick.

The manual is available to download from their web site and it has some great features. But I just can't see where I could fit a unit as big as that in my car.

I was also disappointed to read that it is Bluetooth version 1.1.

Does anyone know if you can turn the microphone volume up on the K750i? No one is able to hear me talk unless I have the handsfree connected! How can I get it fixed if it is broken then?

Umm... If you're in the car, you should have the handsfree connected.

Alternatively, you could turn on the speakerphone, that should increase the microphone sensitivity.

The HCB-30 has a bug where if you pair too many phones it no longer works.

After recieving my W850i back from repair it seems I now have this problem.

It would be nice to fix the problem. I'm sure it's possible to reflash using the 9pin serial connector. But I can't find the info I need.

Hope this helps someone

Is there not some sort of reset proceedure for the HCB-30 (if anyone is still using it) to restore default factory settings?

The Nokia CK-15W I have installed in my wife's car is able to to reset, but that proceedure makes use of the screen and UI so may be unique.

Yes I think there is. But doing it via the serial connector wouldn't be easy. I don't think there's a key combination to do it but I might be wrong
