Just out of interest...
Today I connected a Toshiba Portege laptop with an IBM (Digianswer) PCMCIA bluetooth adapter to a 6310i with no problems. I am using the latest PCSuite. |

paulgsm > About software-versions,..basically version 4.08 and forward work well,...I know this, as we use the phone for testing bluetooth headsets
There were some issues on the earlier versions.

Well I've gone through the FAQ that goes with the software and this is the first line.
1. Digianswer Bluetooth Software Suite has to be installed and Nokia
Connectivity Card DTL-4 plugged into PCMCIA slot.
Were the hell do you get Digianswer Bluetooth Software Suite?
How do you upgrade the cell phone since I can't find any software online to upgrade it? |

I've got a 6310i, software 4.8 and have the new nokia HDW-2 headset.
I can get them to connect okay, but the connection keeps dropping randomly - could take 1 minute, could take 30 minutes for it to happen.
I'm getting a software upgrade to 5.22, to see if this will help.
has anyone else had any similar problem with this headset, or indeed any other headset as I've heard ir may be quite common. And if so does anyone know if the software upgrade will help?
thanks,
H.

You guys/girls may have already read the thread below, but if not, please read it - it's about trying to get Nokia to sort itself out.

Upgraded software to 5.22 - makes no difference to functionality of headset - still dropping connection with phone, and auto powering off.
will be returning headset.

Upgraded software on 6310i to 5.22, nokia HDW2 still doesn't work correctly - still dropping connection etc., have replaced it with the new Jabra BT200 headset with Nokia voice dial capability - and it works perfectly, no dropped connections, voice dial works fine..
all for half the price of the nokia offering.

Good grief, and screw Nokia! All the hours I have tried to get the bluetooth connection to work between my 6310 and laptop! I even tried to install the software provided for the 8910i; it manages to connect via my Billionton Bluetooth USB adapter, but the connection closes immidiately.
On Nokias own discussion forum they tell us to wait for software version 4.88, I wonder when the h... that will be available. Judging from their history of rotten support and arrogance towards customers, I guess it will take a long time!

New software version 4.88 still does not work. Seems to be able to initiate a BT session with a 3rd party bluetooth PC adaptor but then fails for unknown reason.

I found the solution! I ditched my nokia and invested in a T68i instead. 40 minutes of setting up and now there is no problems in using the Bluetooth functionality! |

I'm currently experiencing the same issues on exactly the same setup... Mine drops connections and won't automatically link to the headset when the headset is switched on (even after following the manual instructions to a tee, to enable this) I'm not happy as the headset came bundled as a freebee on upgrade to the 6310i. Being from South africa I can only assume Nokia didn't check such issues before having this brainstorm. I will be contacting them with regards to a firmware upgrade. |

I checked and I have software version 5.22 on my handset. And I have the problems. Still waiting for Nokia to get back to me regarding this. I'm not too phased about the headset, I never really use them (although wireless would sort out most of my headset gripes) but I expect some sort of reimbursement for this error. |

I have a Nokia 6310i and a Billionton integrated Bluetooth adapter in my Clevo Laptop. I had exactly the same problems as everybody else here and spent some 2 weeks trying to work out what the hell was going on. However with some poking around I found out what was going on. I am currently using PC Suite 4.88 and it is working OK. I don't know the software version of the phone but it is 5.x anyway.
I have locked my Bluetooth up so that it will only work with paired devices so I will describe how I attach my phone to the system.
My Com Port configuration in the Bluetooth stack setup is configured to Com 6. this is important.
From My Bluetooth places I right click on the "Nokia PC Suite icon" and select Connect. My phone then tells me it is connecting.
I then open the Nokia connection manager and select Bluetooth and the Nokia Bluetooth phone entry.
I then click on Apply and select the Com Port that I configured in the Bluetooth setup (6) and click on OK
I now have a PC Suite connection that works for the rest of the time that I am connected.
How bad is that?????? I am struggling on with this poor connection method and will be looking very closely as to which phone I replace my current model with next. It may not be a Nokia even though I love the phones....
Hope this helps. |
