Nothing exciting in those designs...imho. Plasticy, tacky feel. But that screen resolution is excellent!

I will never buy a Nokia phone again, because i am sure while i am buying a new one they would be planning to release 1258642 new phones by the end of the year. |

Not bad. The 6280, 6270 and 6111 all have BT and 262k screens (320 x 240 pixels in the first two, 128 x 160 in the latter). The 6280 seems to be a 3G version of the 6270 (which is Quad Band) and has two cameras.
Prices: 6280 375€, 6270 300€, 6111 270€.
Also if you watch the videos at Nokia's site you can see that the Series 40 3rd edition seems to have very little in common with the earlier S40 phones. Which is nice So no boring menus anymore.
Looking at the picture in the first post, it seems to have a 12 icon menu, battery/network/time status visible at all times, 3 softkeys, Active Desk just like the Series 60 phones..
edit: and most importantly, an analog clock option just like in Symbian phones
edit 2: the 6280 comes with a 64MB miniSD card, the 6270 with a 128MB miniSD card

These slider phones seem to look good at first but then therte's always this Nokia touch (the way they want to conceal ther's a keyboard, the curves and lines, all these little details) that puts me off personally. There's always this second class feeling about the designs, they will not stand the hand of time. It is not daring, it is not really new, it is always second hand.
I still believe Motorola and SE are the only two brands with good design.
And then these memory cards... I know 90% of the esato posters wants memory cards but I can not match the type of person that would do stuff with memory cards and this design. I don't see the users of these phones before me. |

Well personally I'm not impressed with the SE design/build quality either. I bought my K700i when it cost almost 400 euros (in November last year) and since then, all the stickers have come off (Quickshare, Online), the little rubber bits on the inside of the battery cover have worn out, the battery cover creaks like hell unless you put a little piece of paper between it and the phone, the joystick requires very hard pressing in order to work, the 2 key gets stuck at times..
No such problems with my friends 6260 which he bought when I bought my SE. Even though it has a seemingly more delicate structure (the rotating screen). And ironically it was 20€ cheaper than the K700i.
From Nokias to an SE to whatever. |

People seem to think the K750i is somehow superior to every other phone on the market. But if you compare it to the 6270 for example, it's actually quite a close fight.
Both have:
-262k color screens
-2MP camera
-MP3 player + memery card slot
-Bluetooth, IR, USB
-integrated flash, zoom etc
-internet browsers
-FM radio
-advanced menu structure (tabs, animated icons etc)
6270 also has:
-larger screen (320 x 240 vs 176 x 220)
-EDGE
-Visual Radio
-Push to talk
-Quad Band support
-3D stereo speakers
-IMO more attracting menu - standby screen with analog clock, Active Desk etc
-no joystick which might "wear out" in time
K750i has:
-autofocus in the camera
What do you think? |
