The test: Can the K750i Replace a Digital Camera? (site comparison survey) |

As promised, I went outdoors and took pictures all over the city, but I'm going to post up two that sparked up my interest. One is a street sign to show you how well the wording looks, and another of a playset in a park in Chinatown.
First the sign:
The DSC-T33:
The K750i:
The Z800i:
Now the playset:
The DSC-T33:
The K750i:
The Z800i:
[I also took these pictures with a Canon SD400 to make a comparo with my T33. But the quality of those are comparable to the T33]. |

Yup, i packed away my digital camera today too !
Gotta agree, the K750i comes out on top.
The Z800i however is another story, i think it takes terrible pictures.

In my opinion, the K750i seems to be a replica of the sony U-series cam... |

I'd like to turn this thread into a digital camera vs. k750i photo comparison.
For argument's sake, all the pictures I took were shot in VGA resolutions, since I wanted both to be as evenly matched as possible.
For my final test, I wanted to see how both fared to a picture with a lot of color and detail. I stopped at a CVS and took a picture of the toothpaste aisle.
Note that my Z800i is now eliminated from the comparo, since I know it can't replace anything, except for my V710.

The K750i:
IMO, it looks like the K750i deals better with the color of the shelves. I noticed with the T33, the pictures I took had a bit of a yellowish tint to it. |

My digi cam will stay in use for at least 12 months.
The K750i takes excellent pictures ( in the correct hands it is the best camera phone available today) and I had some printed out at the local Kodak store 5x7 and perfect quliaty. BUT it is still only a 2mp camera with a crap digital zoom. My digicam has 4mp and 8x optical zoom so until the phone has equivalent optical zoom my Minolta will stay in use.
The phone is convenient for 90% of photos to capture the moment without lugging around a large camera but for those special pictures you cannot do without the higher quality camera which can be printed to A4 and maybe more.
. . Proud owner of the K750i-converted to w800 but now flogged on ebay and have the superb N80. |

The K750 is really good, way beyond k700, but it remains a 2MP camera with plastic lens which gives distorted images. Also I prefer the colours of the DSC-T33.
The pictures of the teddybear were a good comparison.
Also with a 'real' camera you can expect to have optical zoom.
I'd like to see pictures at 2MP-level from the camera to compare with the 'best' the phone can do.
That said, the k750 can serve as a carry-away camera e.g. when traveling and you go out at ni |

@ xlroadster, good idea, i've never rated the Z800i's camera. Id say its only marginally better than the K700i's VGA.
However, i wouldnt compare the K750i to any digital camera, only ones of the same megapixel value. Theres not point, say, in comparing the K750i to my uncles Minolta 12mp camera, is there ?

@ etaab:
that's why i only compared the two products at the VGA level. i also have a razr, v710, T610, and Nokia 6600. I shot photos with all those at a VGA level, since they are only 0.3MP cams (except for the V710). None of those even came close to matching what I got from a T33, K750 or even a Z800 at VGA level. |

From what iīve seen, once i buy a k750 i will only use my Fuji s5000 in my "photography trips" - when i go out just to make photos, for contests, etc - my hobby For normal photography the quality of k750 is enough, special if you buy the flash |

Photography is quickly becoming my new hobby too.
Im always on the look out for something interesting now to take pictures of, but sometimes i feel a little self conscious taking pictures of abstract objects in busy public places.
