Perhaps a quick browsing of that padding material in the box.. *Oh, it was the manual? Gee, wiz* would be beneficial sometimes  You can assign personal ringtones by picking a contact in address book and choose more|edit, there you have tabs containing info and customizing caller image and ring signal for that contact 
Beats the crap out of groups concept i had in my Siemens IMO..
