Since I have a 20gb iPod next to my k700 I have never used the mp3-function of the phone again.

The combination of iPod and iTunes environment is an important element in the experience (ease of use, all in one place, huge capapcity so you don't have to make a selection etc.).

The camera though is another matter. The one in the k700 is good but is just a vga, the 2 MP is a big step up.

IF you find the camera important, go for the k750. It will do as a second camera, BUT will not eliminate the need for a 'real' camera - the same idea as with the big iPod.

You could consider the K700 as a between-step to the generation after the K750, which might be a 3G-model or so because at that time tariffs might have gone down.

If you're going to be holding onto your next phone for a long time, I'd go for the K750i; I think the K700i (the best phone I've ever used) could be feeling old by next year.

If your looking to update your iPod then perhaps the W800i could be more appropriate. I don't want to start yet another comparison thread... but it may be what you're looking for. Could be more expensive than the K750i but on the bright side, I bet it will get all the upgrades S/E are planning for the K750i.

To be honest, the difference between the K750 and K700 is not all that great - having owned both phones.

Both phones have essentially the same functionality - MP3 player, Radio, Camera / Video, 3D Java support, 176x220 resolution TFT screen etc etc.

There are perhaps only two major differences between the models. Firstly, the K750 has a vastly superior camera - 1632x1224 compared to 640x480, and secondly the K750 supports Memory Stick Pro for memory expandability. The rest of the changes are all fairly cosmetic - a slightly modified UI, RDS on the radio, a couple of fairly useless applications (Video DJ and PhotoDJ) etc etc.

Personally I would be happy with the K700 if I didn't want to have a large MP3 library on my phone and rarely transferred the camera's photos on the PC.

There is little doubt that the K750 is a better phone and a fair improvement over the K700, but I am not sure I would pay twice the price for it on PAYG.

@mwarner, I am not entirely paying twice per se, what I did is got a new phone from T-Mobile when I renewed my contract and then sold it on eBay, of course it didn't fetch $400, but it helps pay for about a third of the cost.

I have a 4MP digital cam that I only use when I want to take pictures and plan ahead, so having a 2MP cam handy will be nice.

As for the MP3 player, as I said in the summer, carrying an iPod is a pain, 'cause there are no jacket pockets to put it in, and it's too bulky to carry in regular pockets. Wearing it outside using a belt clip is a neon sign begging people to rob you here in NYC.
