I know its a different country, but it is exactly random. My phone was held up in UK Customs and I was requested to provide a reciept to price it. When I did it was released and I was not charged. |

you're certainly lucky then
my first PSP for my son came from an esato member posted from Japan as a gift and I paid tax and the second for my daughter came from Hong Kong off ebay as a gif and I paid no tax

i think it has to do with whether the person who posts it declares it as a low value gift or just a gift,
but yeh had some problems with some websites who just send it as gift and i got taxed

In my opinion its not worth the hassle because if something happens youll be out of 500 dollars. Sooner or later it will be in your home town so you can see what you are getting.
