The machines are the work of San Francisco-based Zoom Systems, which calls them "robotic retail stores", and it has installed them in around a dozen airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson and San Francisco International. It has also installed similar machines in branches of car rental firm Avis, stocking mobile phones and headsets.

That's a good thing IF the prices are lower due to lower overhead costs.
Otherwise i'd want someone to rant at when my ipod goes bonckers.

Good point from eastcoster, I suppose there is some kind of music download service, like iTMS, in the airport making even more profit but the first concern is how you gonna charge it as it needs 4 hours ....

Hehe, I'd not buy from one of those. Imagine how pi**ed off you'd be if it got stuck just before it fell (though the next customer wouldn't complain at 2 for the price of one
+ I hope the landing is cushioned otherwise they (mainly the cameras) could suffer shock damage before you even get your hands on it!

Good idea though!
Have a look at some of the photo's on my site, they can be quite good (no adult content!)

Reminds me of the GBA and PSP vending machines, which have been there in Japan for ages!
