One of my fellow workers is on Orange with a t68.. He also got very pi**ed off at the fact that Orange were not performing the upgrades, so he complained and complained to them until they GAVE him a t68i !!! and he still got to keep his t68! |

Damn, I wish I'd tried that tactic! They simply ignored my emails. I obviously wasn't trying hard enough. Anyway, I now have mine upgraded.
After it was done, I got a call from Orange detailing the post quoted above and apologising for the confusion.
Still, they've *really* gone down in my estimation for this fiasco.

i never realised so many people were having trouble getting the sw.upgrade on orange! i got my T68 (on orange) upgraded by CPW.
i had no problems at all, the only question they asked me was "did u buy ur T68 from us?" i said "no" and they said "thats ok". i have heard of CPW asking for receipts as well, i never even got asked for that!
they took my fone, sent it away (took 7 days!) and it came back upgraded and still locked to orange! dont quite understand why, but it must vary from branch to branch?

Orange launched MMS today......but u have to pay per message sent (40p) NOT in data.....thats a bit crap, TMobile are better giving 10mb of data for £20....better than paying for each MMS

But importantly, Orange will not enable MMS on your account unless you have an official T68i from them. Even if you have a T68 with T68i software, they will not enable it, no matter how much you make a fuss. |

No MMS without a genuine T68i??? Hey, that's fine if Orange want to cut their nose off to spite their face. People want the T68's upgraded to be able to use MMS (amongst other things), but if they don't want us to spend our money using the service with them, then who are we to argue |

Orange sorted my MMS today...just called data support and they sent the usual sim update within a few hours....ask whether i had the software upgrade but was find with it...i started asking bout the Orange standpoint on it and was told we can get it done, if you can find somewhere...so now they dont mind but will make it as difficult as possible!

Been on to Orange about having MMS enabled. They said no problem once I assured them that I had got my s/w upgrade done.
They sent me the MMS settings through and now I'm just waiting for my sim update.
Maybe they're not so crap after all.

If u have an Orange T68 registered onto your account & u have it upgraded to T68i - u can have MMS enabled - if u have any MMS compatible sim free phones u cant have it - oh & orange will soon release a GPRS MMS bundle - so u can either pay 40p per message or buy a GPRS MMS bundle. Will be about £4 for the bundle per month. |

Orangeman: Not true, I have a sim free t68m->i on Orange now with MMS for the past week and a bit.
The trick is to LIE, say you have an Orange t68m->i
Their records are pants so the boffins in MMS department don't even know if you have a t68 or not. You could have a starTAC and they wouldn't know.
The SIM update works fine although you do have to turn the phone off and then on again to get it to register on GPRS.
Oh and it may take a little while to get the update (72 hours is not uncommon) as when I chatted to them they only had three people manually setting everybody up.

Orange do know what handset u use - they have two systems -there is a box which lists ur IMEI - it says whether it is orange or unknown (sim free) - and another which lists the the handset typeI to which ur sim is paired to - sometimes this changes from say T68 to unknown - if u have had a replacement sim for example - then they may not know - don't really matter now though as they will soon upgrade everyone to MMS if u want it - just not yet - trust me, I work there - u give me ur moby number & I can tell u everyphone uve ever used ur sim in! |
