Quite clearly there are parents who spend more on their kids....
eg. new games consoles, petrol powered go karts.... etc...

Yeah, it sounds ridiculous but i think that this definately a nokia phone aimed at teenagers... but for an extra £50 you could get a brand new sim free t68i....

i suppose i fit in to that catagory but i would never be bought a phone that costs £300
yes you are right parents do buy kids expensive stuff but a xbox /ps2 will keep a child more occupyied than a phone

I can't believe its coming out on pay as you go so soon!

This has really lowered the 7210 image, it took nearly a year before te 8210 was put on pay as you go.

It does reinforce that the 7210 is a kiddy phone while the 6610 is for a more mature audience.

eh a kiddys phone which parent would spend £300 on a phone for their child/son?

There's bound to be a few upper and middle class parents and teenagers who will be willing to pay for one cos they aren't old enough legally to own a contract phone.

Argos eh - they've long been known for their wealth of mobile phone retail expertise.

Put another way - I wouldn't trust their catalogue as far as I could throw it (bear in mind, its quite small and the paper quite thin ).

Case in point, their previous catalogue (printed early this year) stated that the SE R600 would be out on Orange, o2, Voda and T-Mobile PAYG from March 1st 2002.

5 months on and the R600 has not seen the light of day, Orange have confirmed that they no longer plan to range the handset and the others have been strangely quiet.

As for the 7210 itself, its spec's show that it is more of a 'leisure' handset than the 6610 - but still quite impressive. - £300 on PAYG equates to about £80-£120 on contract (IMHO, based on 5 years mobile retail experience before somebody e-slaps me!!).

What about Argos being the exclusive retailer for T-Mobile's new 4096-colour, £199.99 phone?

Yeah I've seen the phone, kinda cool it has a digital camera attachment that comes with it as standard and you can use the camera independent of the phone as well.
