VBR is totally different although the idea of optimizing the bitrate is almost the same as in joint-stereo. To sumarize, VBR distributes the bitrate differently all throught the different blocks/segment of an entire file, that's why you have a minimum, average, and maximum bitrate setting. Joint-stereo merely distributes the bitrate to the different channels in every block and will work in CBR or VBR.
I suggest that if you want to argue about these technical stuff - you should read more detailed information about it, and not just talk about what you hear or what you think it is. I have so I'm sure I'm right.

It's attitudes like yours that make people like me reluctant to post on forums at all. If you have to be an expert to voice an opinion around here, then most of us really shouldn't bother, should we? |

@AlfBaxter, what's wrong about suggesting somebody to read detailed information about technical stuff? You should read your comments and put yourself in my shoes, then let me know what you think about your attitude. I think you're over reacting. I'm not pretending to be an expert, I'm merely saying what I know and if you read my posts I never tell anybody they're wrong because of some unfounded information that I gathered.
I enjoy learning new things and I don't mind arguments at all as long as they're based on real facts.
