Gmail on V800 |

well on my pda I can use the authenticated server of gmail because my pda supports authenticated connection. When sending and receiving mail I get a server certificate invalid error and choose continue anyway and I send mail and I receive mail.
This just doesn't work like that on the V800...

Settings for V800, GMail and Vodafone in Ireland
Connect Using: Vodafone Mail
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming Port: 995
Encryption:
Incoming Server: TLS/SSL, Domain: pop.gmail.com
Outgoing Server: No encryption
Mailbox: username@gmail.com
Password: gmail password
Outgoing Server: mail.vodafone.ie
Outgoing Port: 25
Email Address: username@gmail.com
Download: Headers only (or whatever your preference is)
From Name: Your Name
Signature: Can leave blank (or whatever your preference is)
Copy outgoing: Off (or whatever your preference is)
Check interval: Off (or whatever your preference is)
I couldn't get the smtp.gmail.com for the outgoing mail server working, so I have just used Vodafone's one here. If anyone figures that out maybe you can post it here. Anyway, this is pretty good, as you can check your gmail and send replies (even if it is going through Vodafone).
Cheers,
Philip

I know this is an old thread but it won't work for me. It says it finds the server but "sending failed". Anyone else seen this?
Thanks,Michael. |

If anyone is having problems with connecting to their gmail due to SSL/TSL Certificate Authority issues, go to the following web page for more information for a work around.
